Thruster Torque in 1.4?
No torque from thrusters today. Anyone else having that?

Resumed a game this evening that I had been playing last night. Last night everything was fine - now my CV will not turn without RCSs. No torque from the Thrusters. Added thrusters and it turns. Same issue with a little SV. Anyone else having this or is it just me?

<edit> I just spawned the CV into a creative and the same issue. But I added a thruster and the torque all came back. Going to try it in my save game and see how it goes.

Sounds like a bug from a couple versions ago cropping back up.

if the ship moved with the same thruster setup its a bug.

But just for the case, Imagine yoizr Ship as Cube, best place for the thrusters are the corners

If you have all thruster in the middle of a vehicel you can only fly straight

There are 3 sliders for roll/pitch/yaw in the control panel that let you set your torque lower, so you can control a ship that wants to spin too fast.

I have sometimes seen a spawned vehicle with those sliders set to 0%. Check them and see if that helps?

I got it working - just needed to add a thruster and then remove it and the game remembered that thrusters can provide torque. Played all day (again). Was awesome!

Your cube explanation was good but i was wondering where would you place thrusters on a sphere?

My issue was absolutely a reoccurring bug. Something to do with teleports, but I have not gotten where I can recreate it consistently. Easy to fix though.

For Thruster placement without any RCS (which I no longer every bother using) the trick is to place all of your thrusters off center from the center of gravity. Then balance the rotation of each placement so that the roll, pitch and yaw balance out. Any thruster directly on the center of gravity line gives no torque at all. I find that mounting them Star Trek Enterprise style works just fine as a starting place - high, back and off to each side. Even for tiny SVs - using at least two in each direction will make it much easier to balance. My current mid-size CV has 24 Large (blue) Thrusters with 4 in each direction. I had to limit the torque and it is perfectly balanced with 92 m/s rotation in each of roll, pitch and yaw.
