Empyrion - Galactic Survival

How do you build bases?
I started from the beginning, on the tenth or twentieth attempt. This time from watching guides on YouTube (Thanks again Kag Ang, you're the best!) and learned a lot, and most importantly, that I was doing everything wrong, for example, following the tutorials in the game. Guys, developers, forgive me, but the initial tutorials are very confusing and lead in the wrong direction.
Finally, I got to the base construction in the game and chose from the template - Blue Moon. An excellent base, but when entering, you stumble, so I decided to make a small ramp.

The order of actions is as follows: go to the base, select steel blocks on the constructor, wait for them to be made, put them on the Quick Access Panel, go outside, pick up the blocks and start placing. This already makes you doubt the intentions, but then it gets more interesting - the block is not placed. It turns out you need to press H, then check the box Attach to base, but the block still is not placed, I don't know why. And I can't even see which side the ramp is placed on, because it's a cube.
I'll go look at the guides further, but for now I'll have to jump in front of the entrance. I was just a little surprised by the overly complex concept of the most ordinary construction and the banal addition of a simple block.

And one more question - are there any renewable energy sources in the game, besides solar panels? In general, there aren't many power sources - so far I've only seen generators and panels. I placed solar panels and now there are no problems with energy, no need to manually refill fuel tanks, but is there really no way to automatically extract the resource, make fuel and fill the tanks?

I suspect the problem you're running into when trying to add steel blocks to your base is that you've got the wrong size. Most blocks fit either on the 2 meter grid of CVs and BAs or the 0.5 meter grid of HVs and SVs. The constructor filters can be set to show only the blocks for a particular type of structure.

Resource renewability is something that can be adjusted several ways. In the context of a local single player game, the easiest method of having renewable fuel is with autominers. Setting the autominer depletion setting on the world options will allow them to extract miners, such as promethium, indefinitely so long as they have fuel and storage space. You'll still need to periodically service your autominers and haul their bounty back to your base, preferably with a good cargo ship. There's no way to go right from the miner to the fuel tank, however.
If you want to build at a distance from the base, you first have to hold the block against the base, then press H and now you can place it without direct contact to the base. The only thing that counts here is the maximum distance the game allows from the point where the core is sitting. There is nothing complex but basically absolutely simple

If you want to make life easier, go into the configs and COMPLETELY disable the entire volume/weight system. You won't need to use that ridiculous quick access system. You can just take stacks of blocks and put them on your hotbar directly. It's the system that existed when the game launched, and the whole new system is just bizarre. The new system would only make sense if we were created ghost templates, and then adding resources to slowly build it. We just plunk down entire blocks and crafting stations as is.

Once you have them on your hotbar, you can select various shapes from a menu, rotate them, and add them. Building gets MUCH simpler.

Once you have enough solar panels and solar capacitors, you really shouldn't need any fuel. The capacitor is a battery, that allows systems to be powered during the night. I always add a generator and fuel tank just as a backup, but I the fuel is never used up if I've added enough panels.

I wouldn't recommend disabling the mass and volume system. Better and more fun to learn to use it.

You are right, I chose the wrong block and tried to attach the SV-HV block to the base.
Now the block is correct, but I still can't put it in place and align it with the top edge of the base plate, and if I lower the block a little lower, it goes underground, probably aligning with the bottom edge of the plate, which is underground.

I am currently on the planet Akua, which is favorable for beginners, but I have not found promethium yet and am not sure if it is here. I have a SV ship, but I am not ready to fly to other planets yet, I want to explore this planet.

I have only read about autominers so far, I will definitely use them, but I have questions about delivery. Drones can't do this?

No, I wanted to dock the ramp to the base, but something is going wrong.

You need a different shape, the "top half" of that ramp whatever it's called.

Yes, I turned off the weight and volume, as well as the CPU, it became much more convenient.

I did not calculate the amount of fuel at the base and while I was exploring, I lost a lot of good products in the refrigerator, so when I returned, out of frustration I laid out all 15 acceptable solar panels and 10 capacitors, although three capacitors would have been enough ) Now I have energy with a reserve, enough for 50 units of time (hours?), this is five times more than necessary.

The block you want is the inverse to the one in the image. It's a slope from the middle of one side to the top of the opposite. It's the one you want stuck in the ground to make a ramp up.

Energy cells are good enough fuel until you can secure a promethium source. They're also used as ammo for the basic multitool, so you probably have some already.

Thank you very much, I didn't think about that.
But now there is another problem, the block is not placed in this place. next to or on top - please, but specifically on this one - no.
When I tried to place the SV block, it was not placed but disappeared from the inventory, and now it is probably there, but invisible. I read about a similar bug, I will try to roll back to old backups and check again.

And by the way, the fact that the game overwrites saves is very bad and it is unclear why. If I saved the game at 15:07, then I expect that I have it and it will not disappear anywhere. But in fact, this is not so and the game has to be saved twice, in addition, I use my program for saving backups, it has saved me many times.

If you're playing singleplayer you can create backups from the escape menu.

ok so in this screenshot, your block is hovering above where you intend to put it. On an American keyboard, the Page Up and Page Down keys will move blocks vertically up or down. I see Cyrillic characters in your screenshot, so I don't know exactly what keys you'd need to hit. But you just need that block moved down, and use a "half ramp" shape as that one won't be high enough once it's moved.

I can not help with building. Your situation frustrates me so much I quit. LOL I enjoy playing more than the building challenge. Thank you to you as a future creator (if you choose to publish) and those who do for players like me!!

I will help with promethium. I will only say that it is on Akua but you will have to look in places you probably would not look. If you want us to tell you where to look say so otherwise I figured you wanted to find it for yourself. As to how autominers deliver ore, you have to retrieve it from the miners.
