Your mission system is from the stone age.
I love the game, I really do. But your missions are horrible. First , Why can't I do more than one mission at a time? Every game in the world gives you credit for kills that apply to multiple missions. Not Empyrion, You have to go out of your way to select that specific mission, Or you get no credit for it...Badly done. Second, Why do the early missions ask you to create things to keep you alive, That almost nobody can ever find? Because the developers have no idea what their doing, That's why. You can't ask a first time player to find herbal leaves, When they have no idea what the plant looks like, And are too busy trying to not get eaten by bugs, To be bothered looking for a plant. And bam their dead. Very badly written. Having people memorize plant types and uses is not a good way to start a game. This is something that should be gradually impressed on players, Not thrown in their face in such a way that you drive them from the game. Third, there should always be some kind of pointer or clue that leads me to another mission, Without me having to read thru a long list of missions that aren't missions at all. Just useless rep repair missions that have no business being on my screen at all. There should be a repeating clue that pops up, Or a pointer to show me the way. If I have to carefully pick through a list of useless text, Just to find a mission that I had no clue was there. I've already lost interest. And will write this off as a very badly written game. Get your missions into the 21st century!

I'd made them a function of playfields themselves.

With as least amount of Hilter's ranting rage syndrome (and yes I have gone mad about not being able to do orbital bombardments in-game) I do try to understand that before I rip the Devs a new one about their failures in mission development in particular, that I must first suggest to them new quest ideas, however in turn, the Devs do fail to encourage this by having a separate thread forum under ideas and suggestions.

Because how story telling can go with games as the Elder Scrolls and Fallout would show, it is nearly endless, and truly just having a story telling thread forum on space war and empire building theme is fun enough just reading, if not actual source of new, and free by legal agreement before posting in that forum, quest lines in the game. Nothing worse for a Dev than a dang fool pulling a law suit over content rites, and a penny to the gamers at all is lost profit and out of the question, any of us who refuse that logic is most likely more disregardable as threat to the security of the game studio/company.

Also the skills system is a bit odd, you seem to remember your officer training on how to turn dirt into a spaceship by killing plants and animals things in the wild. Memory loss from concussion of pod crash is understandable but how does killing things cure a concussion?
These are changes that should have been made in the Alpha stage. It is a shame they just released it as is. But who knows, devs don't seem to be following the traditional road map of Alpha -> Beta -> Gold, so anything is possible.

In saying all that, you should have seen the quest system before the first revamp. It was a bigger dumpster fire than the current one.
The mission system is very raw and placeholder-ey. Was fine when the game was EA, less acceptable for a released title.
It's lacking several key features.

I have seen similar game genre similar to Empyrion Galactic Survival that was made by the Chinese. They had done the game, sooner, better, and more game mechanic features.
That was my rant.
My opinion would be : Better off to change the whole system to Unreal Engine 5 than fixing the whole thing which was totally lacking several key features, hire more team members then make it work. Everyone loves a working game. Playing half polished game is just like feeding your kid with raw meat. just saying.

There, their, they're, all different words. Please learn the difference between them, and proper usage for each.

It's a relatively old game called "Planet Explorers".
Then they did "My time at Portia".
Are you really comparing Planet Explorers to Empyrion ? Apart being open world and voxel based, they have nothing in common
There are not any games similar to Empyrion, that I know of.
Well, i tried this game. Gave it a shot but i can't get into it. Did that tower place on the tutorial planet, came back, cured the parasite and somehow i got food poisoning and died with no way to cure it.
I feel like i have no control over my own character or what happens to them. At any moment, for any reason, they can just keel over and that's that.
I'll just go back to space engineers.
That is why is different from other games and i am glad it is. But on survival mode, wish those tools, such as portable constructor doesnt require 3 ores to make. Someone mention to me that it use to be alot more than that and i guess too many complaining it was too hard to get.

But wish they put that requirements back for portable constructor, heater, even the motorbike. There no way you going to make a motorbike out of 1 iron ingot lol. Going to take alot more than that, infact you will need source to make it goes, like fuel cells or biofuel and it will deplete at some points.

Sorry i like things more realistic, to be able to enjoy the game. There just isnt very many games out there are like that, too many been playing kiddos games, etc. So that is why you see so many games are simply and this one isnt.

If you can't make portable constructor, you're just stuck forever at prehistoric era. It is a hassle, that's why it only requires 3 ores (especially on MP where iron bearings are very rare on some starter playfield).
The bike is expected to be phased out on future release IIRC.

But if you are really after realism, EGS might not be your game. You can transfert any material over WiFi or build a spaceship out of your pocket factory by droping item in it...
