All depends on the size of the ship and what you are using it for as well.
Miniguns set to not target bases , will focus ground troops for example.
Reforged Eden
Lasers for taking down shields.
Laser turrets is all i tend to use for anti shield work.
Positrons or Imperial particle cannons are not as strong vs shields but have better block damage than lasers. They can also help you target things. (the bright beam )
Missile turrets for block damage, followed by cannon turrets. ( Cannons have the highest damage per minute and do acceptable damage vs most things.)
Direct fire arty is what ends battles quickly.
Knowing where to aim makes all the difference.
If you dont know where to aim try taking out forward thrust until you have the target immobilized.
I would skip arty turrets, the travel time of the projectiles makes them hard to use.
The right click EMP function is pretty nice but you need to use them manually and then you are stuck in the turret while it reloads.
Multi missile launchers can be useful for disabling small and medium thrusters , sometimes turrets. I use 3 or 4 since you can right click fire them in atmosphere. They are a less destructive weapon than arty, i find them very useful when farming drones but less useful vs all other space targets.
CV torpedo launchers are highly accurate but feel weak, they trade damage for that accuracy.
Flak i avoid these , since cannons do a fine job vs drones at a longer range work in atmo, and contribute damage vs hardened targets.
Takes a bit to figure out how to deal with different targets, sometimes targeting gens will be the fastest way to disable a ship. Other times you may need to take out thrusters on one target so you can deal with another.
Used this to farm drones for aux cores, takes a solid beating 10 layers of combat steel on the front plates. It wasnt an i win button but i always made it home.
It gets workable at about 20k+ Shield. In Reforged Eden your CV shield gen makes like 5k, whats just enough to run away if you get attacked. Even then you will lose some parts. So you gotta build some extenders/chargers.
I use a customized Asteria carrier on a RE server this season. It has 32k shield right now, and iirc 16 positrons, 8 cannons, 4 salvaged lasers, 4 missiles 2 artys. I just use whatever i found but main focus is positron turrets. As fixed, i use some rocket launchers (they fire in atmosphere if you use alternate fire, whats a great help to make holes in pois)
This unoptimized setup kills everything up to drone assemblers/zirax sunat's quite effortlessly. Basically just fly straight at them and by the time i arrive its gens are gone and i can loot it. But to be honest, for bigger enemys i will need a combat CV, not the mobile base type the asteria is... Thinking about modding one of "atremisrouges" builds, the ayamara or the evagelian.
I'm pretty sure ravien and vermilion spent a lot of time updating that specifically for their scenarios.
Pretty sure they even try to direct you there multiple times.
Shame no one actually reads....

Not only did R&V spend huge amounts of time on the empyrionpedia (yes nobody reads, I do) they also put this information on each of the weapons.
