The default games scenario is set up in a way that it doesn't allow it.
You are not starting on planets in the default scenario. You are starting on moons. Since they are meant to be moons they are fixed in size.
That is the whole reason.

You set up the complete planet in size, climatic, weather, bioms and so on. And thats the problem. When I created my Lost Scenario I have to deal with a problem, that some seeds working not correctly when the Size of a planet is variable. I got many many many internal error messages on the egde of the planet because the game has set the size to middle (in yaml = 3) but the real one is big (yaml size = 4). So the POI setting comes to struggle, the ressources also.
When choose only one size, all is working correctly - besides the other not fixed bugs in this game.
If the starter system was randomized you could set the size.
Main things I saw were:
Added Tutorial for new players
Updated all random generated playfields to the latest version
Added TemperatePlateau, Snow2 and DesertBurnt to the Galaxy Generation
Player Start always in Crash Site on Atlon, Mato, Itaka, Taldor and Korro
(*I* didn't. Started on that damn tut moon - repeatedly)
More confused than ever. Do I HAVE to build a scenario to do any customizations?
Those are not the starting planets for the Default Single player.
If playing the Default Single player game then yes you must start on the premade fixed small starters. But there are many other scenarios you can choose from.
There are some on the workshop that bypass the tutorial.
You could build a scenario if you like.
Well, I'm going to have to look into the Workshop then. This 'change' is bllsht. PLUS, Satisfactory is releasing a huge update on 09/10 - so, in just a few days.
You mentioned "7 Years", so I looked at my page for this game, where you put your own tags. I have an entry that says, "Pre-Alpha Nov. 2015" !!! hahahaha Can't believe after almost 10 years, one stupid decision by them is going to run me off. They fix it back, I'll come back. if not, **** 'em.
Obv, the game has changed a TON... but never some blindly idiotic move.
Do not hold your breath on them changing the starting sector. In the last couple of years they have dumbed down the game so it is not to hard for new players. Making it less and less fun to play vanilla. RE and RE2 is the only thing keeping this game installed on my PC.
Yes. RE2 has 14 starting planets ranging from easy to ultra hard and everything in between. But make sure you read the description on the workshop as it changes a LOT with the game!
Thanks, I will. Skimmed through it before the download and realized, "Man ! gotta study this one!" hahaha
