Epic vs. Steam versions?
Picked this up for free on Epic last week, have already put like 20 hours into it, and now I see it's 60% off on Steam and am giving serious consideration to buying it... Aside from better workshop integration and not having to deal with the god-awful Epic launcher, are there any other differences between the two versions, and is it possible to transfer save data from one to the other (and possibly even the whole install to avoid having to redownload it?)

just transfer save folder in "epic Games\EmpyrionGalacticSurvKqTWC\Saves" to "\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves"

technically epic games is drm free for singleplayer, (it'll launch with the direct exe)
but steam has all the benefits of steam itself, installing mods, not only blueprints, and intigrated guides/notes/recording in the steam overlay, steamdeck support, and steam will outlive epic store, so even if the game gets taken off steam list, you'll always have the game to download

and last but not least, dedicated server hosting, steamcmd makes things a lot more solid for setting up, and idk how that would work on epicgames

I never had Epic, but i have over 6 k hours of playing Empyrion on Steam. I would say it's a small price to pay being you got it free to see what it's like. If you join a multiplayer game there is no need to transfer anything. And there is nothing more satisfying than a restart after a wipe.

Its literally the same exact game, why would it be different? Thats said, id still recommend buying it. Its 100% identical, except not being tied to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher and missing out on workshop integration.

some times i make a backup from the current build, to continue playing and make it update proof.
but lately, i don't see the saves from steam folder in the copied game, have any idea why ?

If you are playing a copy of the game you need to do this as described by Pantera. Basically, if you don't use the "Play" button in your library, or the Steam created desktop link you need to do this.

Originally posted by Pantera:
For that you can try adding a new line to the Empyrion.props file & you will need to to launch the game from root by double clicking on EmpyrionLauncher.exe:
- In the Empyrion root directory create a copy of the “Empyrion_Example.props” & rename it to just “Empyrion.props”
- Open it in notepad++ & add this on a new line & save the file

[DebugOverrides]
ForceGamePlatform = 2

- then with steam running start the game again with EmpyrionLauncher.exe from the root directory (you can create a shortcut for this & have it on your desktop)

This is only needed for the client, not for the Dedicated Server!

i would make a new thread on this issue with more detail, maybe i just am not reading it right, but it looks like the wording confused previous post too
