Finding cobalt
Question - if the info blurb when you pop open your map while on the surface doesnt show cobalt as a resource, does that mean for the whole planet or just the sector? Ive read about cobalt that its supposed to be on Akua but Ive been all over and if that map thing is for the whole planet then I have a problem there is no cobalt on any of the 4 moons then. Im working the sky mission and have checked out a few POI and nothing yet. Cobalt seems intergal to getting out of system - any suggestions?

Everything you need to build a Warp capable SV you can find on the surface of Akua.
You just need to look.

Is that near the poles?

Surface resource rocks, such as the ones HurtfulPlayer97 is showing you above, do NOT show up on the map ever. Different planets have different ones potentially.
You have to just hunt for them and see what you find. They can be easy to miss sometimes.
If you are still early game it can help to send your drone (F5) up into the air a little to see them easier and further.

Those surface resource rocks are not the same thing as deposits.
Deposits are what show on your map.

Look closely in the pictures they showed you above.
The top right is the radar, and just to the very left of that it shows you the current biome they are in, Cold Plains.
So you know you have a chance of finding them in that biome at least.

Now explore the planet until you see the Cold Plains biome listed next to your radar.
IIRC there is also a Tundra biome on Akua that they can also spawn in.

Cobalt and Iron is found as rocks laying around on every body. No need for it to show on the map, what the map shows are deposits only or meteorite showers.
Don't forget that your portable constructor can also make the basic ingots with crushed stones. (but cobalt ingots are not one of them IIRC).

Don't spend time scratching at surface rocks if you can avoid it. You should be able to make a space capable SV without any cobalt at all, then you can go to space and either get it in large quantities from an asteroid or get it from the nearby moon.
Between Ningues, Skillon, and Masperon, there's enough material to build and fuel a whole proper CV. You just need to build the right tools to gather and process it first.

Build a SV with a warp engine and a lot of container space and try the two planets beyond Omicron orbit. I believe I was able to find even a cobalt asteroid there. Make sure you design the ship to be able to spawn player drone without going outside and also try to start mining asteroids first to evade an early conflict with Zirax. You can also look for wrecked CVs to salvage some blocks that are hard to build early. A good trick is to open a schematics in Factory and feed anything you cannot store in your SV to it, so you will not lose the mats.
