How do I destroy enemy bases?

Is there something specific i need to do? so far I have a combat steel block pancake covered in the maximum amount of turrets and i just need some Magnesium for ammo. Is there anything specific i need to do/know?

If you destroy the core base is useless and you can even claim it at moment you can build a tunnel and sneak inside too in some cases unless base has a shield.

Get in the base, destroy the core, loot the containers in the base.

Most enemy bases have a big blind spot in front of them so you can just quickly get up to the side of it, park you ship where the turrets can't hit it, jump out and make your way inside. It's not too hard to clear out the NPCs inside. Locate the bases core and destroy it. That deactivates the base.

You also can Use multiple artillery turrets on your Pancake (HV, now CV) and let the turrets do all the work. but attention: The destroyed loot containers loot only lays around for, idk, 3 or 5 minutes and theres often enemies roaming around after that. But still: Works! xD

Magnesium can be found in loot containers in small amounts. Larger deposits can be found on the moons circling the planets.

Dig a tunnel place explosives...(10-15 wil take out the shields if there is any; place 4-5 at the same time though ) go in and clear the place

This had worked for me on Drone Base in the starting planet: I had inserted shield in HV and 1 plasma cannon and 4 minigun turrets.

I manually controlled Plasma cannon and knocked out the Base turrets and made holes in the wall.

A good way to get Magnesium early is to buy it from Polaris and Talon traders. Then wait a while (not sure how long it takes) for their stocks to refill and buy again.

May I ask a not so much related question to this topic:

In the meanwhile i got a bit confused. I played on several different server until today and on some I was told NOT to destroy the Core of enemy NPC bases or POIs. On other server i was told that i MUST destroy the core in order to make clear that this installment has been raided and cleared.

So, what is the usual empyrion intended way? :)

all u need to do is destroy the core and its out of order, replace a core and enter with "p" to get it private also to loot most parts easy

if u destry cores u can get it as ur own strukture if not it remains as public or npc faction, my guess it was server rule to not destroy cores because if u replace cores u can collect all parts out of base with the multitool

mh ok - i guess i was told by someone that when I destroy the core of an alien structure, it wont reset the next day - similar to mine completely an ore deposit, so that cannot regenerate with the next daily server wipe.

I dont know :) maybe every one is configuring his own server differently.

As long as a single block of the structure remains, it will regenerate. So don't salvage the whole thing, but yes you can destroy the core.
Of course each server might have their own rules for whatever reason.
