like he said you can play a game in with the dark faction content just tried it that makke me very happy and ill bet it will be the same with future DLC =D
The new DLC is very buggy, so you might want to just play the normal game for a bit first to remember how things work before diving into it. It has its own scenario, which is a decent way to learn how it works, but you can also enable the dark faction in a normal survival game as well.
Or does the dark spawn actually exist in the galaxy and grow and infect stuff?
All of it, yes. Equipment, dark faction planets, fighting pillars, etc. The whole thing can be enabled in survival.
Just be warned that it's a lot of work to build up the necessary stuff to take on dark pillars effectively, and it will probably spread way too fast to clear it.
It was stated by the devs in the discord that it currently does not spread in vanilla. Doesn't stop a scenario from doing it though.
What is your problem, arent you used to this stability from the vanila Empyrion? Just dont worry, it will get fixed after DLC no. 2 gets out......For the moment they are all focused elsewhere... :-D
So how does it work in normal survival, then? Are there just a pre-determined number of planets that start with it?
Guessing, not knowing. But seems a reasonable guess as how one might implement the "include dark faction content to your normal game" choice *without* messing up the normal game story line.
Bit of a shame, though, since the whole terraforming spread aspect was one of the most interesting parts. Just needed to be balanced for survival mode. Might still happen some day.
No idea, just repeating what was said. That's what it looks like though, they are just generated when the map is, and left like that if I had to guess.
