I don't care what country the game comes from. The only thing that interests me is the product, whether it's a game or a vacuum cleaner.
~Confucius, or something~
To think, this once great company had the loyalty of the majority of players that would have purchased Dev support packages to pay for continued development but instead they have spit in the faces of so many with this move trying to force more money out of people in an unfinished game. Any future release by Eleon will be marred by this with plenty reminding people not to buy the game until its actually complete least history repeat itself.
This is why so many small companies now have issues with early release access...companies abandoning games or trying to cash grab for even more money before finishing the game.
Comparing EA (who has always been known for doing this) to Tencent (who is actually known for NOT doing this) is a bit.. Naff..
Of the list given on the first page, which of those companies have been "pushed with unreasonable demands" by Tencent? And before you start screaming about me being a Chinese shill, think about what I asked first :P The proof is in the pudding.
Tencent in China is a completely different beast than the Tencent holding firm that has done all these investment in Western companies (smart ones, too, if it comes to that..)
Conan was another fiasco.. Funcom built a pretty bad rep over the years so i can understand why the name is worrying..
Not sure what you mean with the screwing over? All my cosmetics transfered over from TSW to SWL? But yeah, that was absolutely not one of their best moves. Although at that point TSW was on life support (and still is), and SWL at least had some additional content (and is now also on life support, like almost all Funcom games).
The kinda funny thing is that Funcom never actually *canceled* a game. Conan is still there, TSW is still there, SWL is still there, hell, even Anarchy Online is still there.
I never got any of mine transferred..
Anarchy was their only real hit of an mmo imo.
i think funcom is gonna bring some big stuff in the future. if conan is any testament. thats a cool game and its packed full of features.
