Me and my Faction at no point have ever engaged in any of the Polaris CVs in our Starter System, and yet, while I'm the only player logged on, without doing ANYTHING and being about 42 thousand meters away, it decides to self destruct.
At this point I can't even question the feature or why it was implimented, it's a straight up BUG! I didn't even attack it! Zero damage to the Freighter. Thrusters 100% intact. In fact when I looked at Sector Map the Freighter was STILL MOVING.
It's a bug they said was fixed. TWICE. Two seperate occasions they claim they fixed it where the CVs were self-destructing for no reason.
On top of this, the kick in the teeth is the disgusting repulsive attitude of one of the devs concerning the communities response to this issue. It is absolutely uncalled for.
That said, the whole self-destruct mechanic they're pushing on us on vessels that we destroy is super irritating. I don't care what their reason is for it.
And yes. I've read up on a few veeeery long threads and scrolled Spanj's video on the subject reading comments (as well as Spanj's)
And I agree, them making these CV's and other POI's unloot/salvagable is like taking Rock out of Paper/Rock/Scissors. You mess with the formula you break the whole system. If we can't loot and salvage stuff, then why not play Space Engineers, Oxygen not Included, or Kerbal Space Program instead?
And no. Giving players the ability to "hack" the game yaml files to edit the self destruct timer is NOT giving the player options. Hacking the game to adjust a value the devs refuse to put in an option menu is not an option. And Taelyn ........ I don't think I can tell you what I think him/her on Steam to be honest......or anywhere else for that matter.
Without getting in trouble.
Only problem was, without the Battery conservation skills unlocked, the Droid chews through the 2 batteries it comes installed with, and then it promptly drops dead out of power. Many players in Multiplayer would end up abandoning their OMPA because of it, also it had a tendency to "fall through the terrain" and drop into the unreachable void where you had to hack the game files to set its battery power back to full so you could "summon it" to you.
And even if a player stops playing on the server, their structures would degrade over time but their OMPA would remain. Some servers were OMPA graveyards. So it had to have server wipes.
But the same problem: In a single player/private server, this isn't an issue, but you would still suffer wipes and resets because the devs put a bandaid fix on the problem instead of correct it.
I understand what they are trying to do, I just disagree with how they are going about it. It's like accidently cutting your finger, and the doctor decides the best chance to prevent infection is to amputate your whole hand.
I don't want sepsis or a blood infection, but the solution is way over the top, disproportionate, inappropriate, and entirely out of line.
Thanks.
