Change Direction of Base after Building
Hey everyone,

Survival MP

I made a farm in space and now when im finished i realise, that the direction of the space station isnt correct, so when placing a new block, the green line is laying on the side.

when trying to place a seed on a plantblock, he says "unable to plant here". when i´m not turning the plantblock it is possible to place the seed. But in my base, everything would lay on the side... Is there any console command to change the build rotation? changing the core or "setrotation id 90,0,0" didnt helped.

there "maybe", was a blueprint recentering command that would require you to delete the base and place it again I think to try this: I'm not sure if it works for bases, and planters, but it does work for fixing cockpit orientation issues.
Fix off centre blueprint
Make sure you have a blueprint of the ship/base, find it's name by pressing F2.
prefabinfo nameofblueprint -clearpivot

As usual anything with spaces then use the single-quotes:
prefabinfo 'name of blueprint' -clearpivot

In the console type
di
, to get the faulty ship's id, destroy the build that's spawned in, and respawn a fresh copy from the blueprint and it should be fixed.

Let us know if that does in fact work and I can update the guide I lifted it from.

The command to rotate (setrotation) is currently bugged or not useful because it cannot be repeated or undone, so you better delete and respawn the base if you want another orientation (destroy and sbp commands).

You can however change position of the base in all axes x,y,z, e.g.

setposition [ID] y-1

which will sink the base more in the ground; repeat in the console with Down-Arrow + Enter key. Change the values if you see fit.

When you spawn a base it's very useful to go in the personal drone view with F5 and move around so you see all parts of the preview.

The setrotation command rotates the whole ship, not merely the core. Please have all the facts before you try to lead others on the path of misinformation.

It's useless to respond to me, I have you blocked since long. I just routinely check wether you exagerate in insulting in which case I report you, so watch out. You are just in the norm this time.

Report me all you want, but you are still wrong.

You have blocked me, so why do you care? I know why, because you consistently and routinely give false information. If you think reporting me changes this, think again.

Hey nobody will bother answering questions in future if there is a chance they get "told" the answer is wrong in this fashion. when you explode always be aware of your own blast radius, other people are here observing, and it does little when the OP had to read past any debate. Think about the audience. The audience asked for help, let's stay on topic.

I'm not a regular player of the game anymore, but just watching the tut by Spanj, yeah, that will probably be the right way to solve this problem, remove the core rotate the model and then save it again, that does seem to be the easy solver.

Perhaps OP would care to reply saying if they were successful and if so, which method they used?

In space he could use the N menu and use the building options to copy-paste his entire structure (there is a rotation feature too), but I doubt this would really help. Only thing to do is blueprint the structure and respawn it.
If you respawn, don't be in god mode and hit O to stabilize yourself before spawning.

It's the simplest and fastest solution instead of feedling around, just ignore the troll in post #5, he's in the wrong movie anyway talking about a ship instead of a farm in space.
As I said - and as OP justly said: the setrotation doesn't work.

Setrotation command does work, when used correctly.

This use case is NOT the correct way or place to use it.
It never worked for this because it was never intended for that.

It's a coincidence that before posting my responses here (and that was the reason I posted) is that I spent 1 hour in Creative figuring how to rotate a structure planetside - the place where it should work. I succeeded 1 time and the command did work and showed results, alas you cannot repeat the same command to continue rotation (as opposed to setposition which works perfectly).
So for me this feature is bugged or call it whatever you like, nobody should lose time with it. And I never said that it was a good solution anyway.

setrotation works fine but it should only be used for testing in test saves.
You shouldn't use commands like that in survival play throughs.

i for sure have exagerated saying that setrotation is useless, that was more out of frustration, just because I cannot use it doesn't mean it's not useful...

Why not? I assume there is a technical reason rather than style choice/"it's cheating".
