The abandoned base on Akua should supply you with enough building materials 10x over.
The hard part is getting enough neodinium, zasconium and eresrum (not exact spelling)
The above means you can pretty much rule out building a CV any time soon... this is what i discovered.
You can get plenty of neodinium and zasconium on the planet/asteroids (i forget its name) near Omecron.... but eresrum, so far its a ghost element for this entire star system save for the small bit you get in loot, so no large scale cv will be possible.... i stupidly built one, cpu extenders drink tonns of eresrum, so that stopped me in my tracks.
If you could build a big powerful CV right away, then it would take some of the fun out of the game. Just like building an SV too soon can take some of the fun out of the game. I built an SV and did some stuff, then I parked the SV and walked around to the moons using the (gate pass) and played the stories on each moon with some HV. I found you will miss a lot by skipping them... 8-)
Neoymium is available in Obipl Rho, Sienna Asteroids, Sienna planet,
Erestrum is available Sienna Asteroids and Uabion Moon asteroids.
Zascosium is available in Symos Planet (guarded by Zyrax).
Pentaxid is available on Uabion moon
Gold is available on Uabion Moon and Symos Planet
I am 300 play hours in on my game, and still cannot complete my one CV because of CPU extenders wanting so much erestrum.
I did build a smaller CV much earlier on in the game but was prevented completing it because of the warp drive.
Then i got a tonn of resources and loot from the planet Sienna and found Zascosium asteroids and neodinium mines on sienna.... suddenly i could build 100 cv warp drives if i wanted....
I decided to build a few of the most powerful CV engines available for my medium CV.... Was stunned by the size of the engines, like WTF?? i seen many huge crashed CV,s but none had engines this large, so i had no idea they existed like that, even from my 300 hours of game play.
Ok so now i got these massive engines, so i upsize my CV a bit to accommodate them, but now this is where the CPU extenders needing so much erestrum come into it and spoil my day.
I been thinking about removing the 4 uplift large engines and putting just 1 in the centre of my cv and recycling the other 3 and possibly get the resources to complete the cpu extenders that way?
The other option is to go continue the storyline on Sienna... i am up to 'knock knock, secret entrance' where there is supposed to be a transporter in the com tower, but there isn't. (I find following the storyline often leads to lots of loot)
Or i could go and look for more loot on Sienna.... its a looters paradise that planet!
No.

Could be RNG,
Well, RNG says i get zero erestrum deposits or asteroids, and, zero gold deposits or asteroids.
Problem solved!
The barren planet is where the good ores are. Plus that is a pic of the space. You want to look at the planets view to see the ores available. You will not get much rarer ores in space in the starter section. At the top left of the sector map is a tick box. That will open a section on the right side which will let you see both space and planet resources and specs. The last tab will be for planets. Hope this helps!
Drop a laser rifle or railgun into a CV blueprint and see what happens
Check the technology tree to see what an item is made of.
I decided nit ti attempt building or buying a CV until I have so much of the needed materials on hand that I'm not scrambling around seeking them.
