How In The WORLD Do You Create a Hover Vessel?!
OK. I'm very new to the game, and I cannot figure out how to make the Ground Vessel Starter. I can't place anything on terrain, and I have all the materials. Is this just me being stupid, or what?

First you need a HV starter block. You need to build it in your constructor. You will need 1. a core, 2. 8 blocks 3. hover device. In order to make the starter block.
Place it on the ground or on a floor keeping in mind that the front is always facing away from you when placing.
Next add the cotpit. Be sure that the cot pit is faceing in the same direction as the starter block.

Be sure to add one directional thruster for each facing forward left and right and a normal thruster in the rear. Make sure each thruster is blowing away from the HV.
You will need to add the following to make it work. RCS, generator, fuel tank.
Pay close heed to the color dots under each item while making them in your constructor you make. Since parts are very pacific to the craft you are building. For example most SV parts will not work with an HV and vice versa . If you make a mistake and make the wrong part try placing in on the base and dismantle it using your repair tool. You will get all of your stuff back by doing this.
Once you put it together. Add fuel to the fuel tank. Then test it. Go to the cot pit and press “T”. Once inside press “Y”. This turns everything on and off.

Next test the hover. Press spacebar and see if craft rises. You should see a difference both in height and on your display screen (lower right) telling you how high your off the ground. You can lower it by pressing C.
Next test the thrusters. Go in each direction of the compass and see if each thruster is working correctly. You should be able to move in each direction including backing up. You should also get much better thrust going forward due to the normal thruster being placed on the back.
(Optional stuff) you might want to add are O2 tank and O2 re-filler only needed for worlds without a breathable atmosphere. Constructor, storage boxes, ammo box and fridge. Also turrets. Could also consider adding extra thrusters for more kick latter as you learn more about how they work.

Note: try to keep first HV small since bigger ones will need more hover engines to work correctly.

Any more questions? :)

You will need to unlock the parts from your tech tree. (press o to access it) also they need to be produced in the base constructor.

And last and most importantly Hover Craft are useless. They don't move well and by the time you can build one, you will realize 'i should have just built an SV.

Lol true.
But pressing the space bar will help in most caces and in those really bad hills use the shift key.

I slightly disagree. If I remember correctly from the last time I started over, I managed to get a simple base up and running and stil have enough mats left from the crashpod to also make a simple HV, so it became much faster and easier hunting down those first ore deposits, and not having to worry about getting back home before dark. However, that's where its usefullnes stops for me too, after a round mining out one of each ore, it's straight back to base, dismantly the HV and start on a SV :)

Also, if you're suffering from some degree of paranoia a HV can protect itself from attacks while you're deep down that hole mining more ore, thanks to turrets which are not available on the SV. Altho this isn't so bad anymore now that enemies pop up on the radar from some distance away so you can know they're close before your cockpit goes boom...
