Report a translation problem
Off my head the types are, assuming I don't forget some:
- Temperate (i.e. those palm trees and dinosaurs...)
- Desert
- Oceanic
- Ice
- Lava
- Barren
- (Gas Giant)
The flora and fauna are different for the different types.
To actually code 40,000+ different planets with their own plants and animals is way beyond our current game technology...
Though, you *could* apply some "tricks" like have different random colors, or even have some different minor body-part and plant-part variants the game then randomly joined to create "unique" animals and plants. Can't be *too* different, though, because otherwise you'll end up with movement animations that don't work...
Some of these will seem similar like Forest Moon looks a lot like a Temperate Planet and there are two different Snow Planet definitions that are subtly different.. and things like Scorched/Barren/BarrenMetal/Desert all look vaguely similar so even though there are 23 maybe it seems more like six or seven but there are some differences.
I think the more interesting stuff is in making the journey to faction homeworlds, otherwise you can try out RE which has more exotic planet types.
