It's funny reading threads like this about NPC crews after seeing so many RE ship designs that stick them in the walls, since they count as CPU boosters. Seems like it defeats the purpose behind justifying crew blocks in the first place if you're not going to make the ship look realistically laid out and populated.
Differences in a colony sim game and a survival game! The whole premis of this game is personal survival not build a colony. It has been this way from the start. So no chance of the developers of changing that fact. Nothing in the game description even leads anyone to think this game is a colony builder game.
where is conquering? what is purpose to build EMPTY STATIONS? you speak about CONQUERING? FOR WHAT?
Geez how hard can it be to figure out that survival games are usually centered around something bad that needs put down. Which would be Zirax and Legacy aliens. The storyline is a work in progress but there is a story.
Please retry reading what you posted and read. It says "mighty space stations and vast planetary settlements to explore"! That does not mean you build a space station, it means you "Explore space stations and settlements! You can go where you want and explore what you want. Team up with the bad guys or good guys. Heck kill everything, whatever you want to do,
You can build anything you have the creative talent to build. Even scenarios where you can then add your own POI's, example a space station with NPC's etc. or worlds. Thus making your own game.
Armed with a CPA, MBA, & an inflated ego, I tried to buy this game once. The developers mean well, but they aren't going anywhere despite the game being absolute genius. I even floated the idea of putting Ravien on salary to provide some much-needed vision. He wanted too much money, or to be more honest about it he wanted something in the vicinity of what he's worth. Too much for me, though.
I basically like you guys. I'd wish for a bit more open minds, maybe a bit more kindness to each other--but you're well above average, realistically. I would tell you not to give OP's so much guff but it just will not matter.
OP, I loved your post btw.
This isn't going anywhere any time soon. Empyrion nerfed the starting worlds hard by eliminating attacks on the player's base. There's not much left in the way of challenge without warfare. The velocity of change is minuscule, because--face it--this is a shoestring operation.
Unfortunately, I must feed myself & provide for my dependents. I can't sell the house (etc.) leverage buy-out whatever company currently employs Ravien (okay bit of a fanboi here) & buy a working voxel-based game engine. Seriously, don't even try to tell me Unity is a good choice. Even if I did all that, which I can't imagine but if I did, I still don't know if I could get base-building done. Certainly not before you've moved on to the next big thing.
Don't let that stop you from posting. Usual suspects, just keep shutting down ideas. Because...why not.
It may not be empire building like what the OP is asking about but I guess that is what multiplayer is for.
