You do not need the schematic to upgrade, the schematic allows you to build the body.
If you have the body installed, you can just upgrade it with the multi tool. But, oddly, you cannot upgrade it from the front end that is sticking out. You have to upgrade it from the other end.
This happens oddly if you place it the 1st time and then remove it.. I found this out the hard way. as I couldn't remove it again, or upgrade it. Then I dug into the body of by CV and found the back end and was able to remove it, and also upgrade it.
It must be a bug.
I tried that and it tells me no upgrade exists or needs to be unlocked in tech tree. I dont see it in the tech tree either.
