How do you kill a creature underwater as guns dont work

I cant find a knife or any other weapon that works underwater

Swim up and bring it to shore.

Chainsaw works as a melee weapon. The survival tool defense mode works upderwater I think.

Since the only underwater predator, at this point, is the Teluropod it can easily be avoided since it doesn't actually 'swim'. It just walks on the bottom. However, if you feel you must need to kill them you can dig a hole in the bottom of the water. Water does not fill holes so you can then lure it into the hole and shoot it there.

I have not tried this since they changed the water flow. This is how I killed them as well. Usually while loot/salvaging a barge. You displace dirt to salvage and create a dry pocket.
Not sure if it still works that way after water change.

IIRC the beginning salvage tool works underwater all 3 settings, and on defence setting van slowly kill the slug lol. The hole in the floor of the water is the sure fire better mouse trap lol, and always works for me

You can use the Survival tool in Defense mode underwater in RE. It does not work underwater in Vanilla.

That is only RE. None of those work underwater in Vanilla. The Sub Machine gun does not even exist in Vanilla.

Yeah, it was added a few updates ago when the weapons were overhauled and the awesome T2 shotgun was replaced with the absolutely limp assault shotgun.

I thought it was too. It is in the game. It's called the SMG.
It does NOT work underwater in Vanilla.
