GPU temperature in this game
Whats your gpu temps when playing this game? i get 75c and that makes me uncomfortable. Only this game makes my gpu hot. Hunt showdown for reference on ultra, my temps is 55c.

I think mine typically gets around the 60s to 70s. I can see where this game could cause some to run hot. It's continuously pegging the gpu to 100% all the time, which I have not experienced in any other game (even ones with large view fields and better graphics).

Graphics settings make no difference to GPU utilization for me in this game, whether min or max settings the GPU is pretty much capped.

I could check but my 980ti is basically going balls-out to render the ssao at 60fps, the only thing that keeps it cool is airflow. It seems to run cooler when playing Empyrion than when playing Rocket League. That's all I really got

It pegs my gpu (970) at 80c pretty quickly and hits throttling, had to go to liquid.

uhhhh because the temps are high for me? lmao you cant read can you?

for those guys who have this issue, an aggressive fan curve is the solution. managed to keep my gpu temps at max 70c with 60% fan speed :D

I did check the specific temps, but my fan cycles on to very high continuously. 2080 GTX. This is the only game where that occurs, and I play pretty weighty games.

75C is hot. I personally won't run a CPU for long periods of time at that temperature. I expect a CPU to pax out at around 69-70C, and idle at around 40C. If your machine is running hotter than that you have a problem.

A video card runs hotter, I wouldn't have a problem with a video card maxing out at 75, 76C. But if it hits 80 there's a problem.

My gpu is maxing around 70, but my cpu is hitting 80, 81, 82. And this is with the thing recently cleaned out and a cooling fan plate under it set to high. If the room is cool enough (under 70 F) and I have a hurricane fan blowing at it, I can sometimes knock that down a couple degrees. 😆

I expect something like that out of a game like The Witcher 3 (which it does fine with almost all settings at max), not this with the settings at medium so I don't lose too much fps....

MY cpu is running at 85C but only while playing Empyrion, not to mention that my GPU is always at 100%, this is the only game that i play where this is happening, i love this game really i do but i also dont want to risk my pc being destroyed it it

My WD gaming hard drive roars like a lion sometimes when I play Empyrion. Hasn't broke yet.

You really shouldn't be playing this game on a HDD invest in a decent SSD like a samsung evo 870 500gb/1tb or better.

Personally, I opened up my computer and got a much larger fan than the GPU could have, It actually doesn't roar like a lion due to having lower rotations per minute than the insane amount from the GPU so it's less annoying, and i'm pretty sure getting a better hard drive/GPU wouldn't improve the overheating issue. Also, why are we talking about hard drives? I don't think hard drives generate the most heat and make insane sounds unless it was trying to autosave a large save file. Perhaps your hard drive is attempting to save in a giant save folder? I purged all of the save files that I make in POIs in my single player which might've been 5 Giga Bytes for all the 30-second intervals I enter a new corridor. If you don't know how to quickly delete your save files, first rename the save files you will use in game, then go into steam's library of Empyrion: Galactic Survival, click on the settings icon in the top right, use the drop down menu to find 'browse local file location' inside of 'manage', and while the game is running in the main menu to bypass steam using the cloud, open the 'saves' folder inside of file explorer, shift click the inbetween saves of all your named files (Survival save/ Creative save/ Tutorial save) and right click and click 'delete' then since I believe the game doesn't like losing files after already rendering everything, exit and boot up the game again to avoid whatever weird stuff might happen.

7 years in EGS on a 7200 HDD with no problems. You must have loud drives or something if you can hear them. Both types work just fine for this game but SSD obviously will load faster.

And most or all GPU's can't be defined by a generalized temp range. Just go look up the chip and the specs. Many are perfectly fine in the 70's. Some newer chips can go up to 90c now and still be within normal operating range. Mine throttles at 82c. So 75 is normal for air cooled.
