Akua start questions
Am doing the Clear Skies quest - I need to download a report from an abandoned comm tower.

I tried hacking the console but it failed. The quest text tells me that I 'might need to try several times if I don't have a key or fire stick', but the option to hack with 80% chance has disappeared after the first attempt. Am I out of luck until I find an access key or a fire stick somewhere?

And - there being no promethium on Akua as far as I can tell - am I right in saying that I won't be able to use the multi-tool or drill until I move to a different planet? I have a few promethium cells but I guess I can't convert them to pellets to make charges with?

There is Promethium on Akua. And Neodymium...and Cobalt..and Pentaxid.
You just need to look. Oh and Gold. There is Gold too. I built a Warp capable SV with a shield from what I got on Akua.

The Console thing, IDK. I got it on the first try. I don't remember having to 'hack' it. I would just do what it says and try again.

Look in the center areas of the big lakes, you can find gold, pentaxid and prometheum there, but it can take a while to find it underwater. Plenty of it though for what you will need.

Thanks all, going swimming then!

That's the problem - the option that it says to use had disappeared from the console as though it was a one-try-only thing. Maybe it needs to reset or something, will take another look a bit later.

I went out exploring first, and wound up totally messing it up. I didn't know it was a mission area. I went inside, tried to access the console and failed it, and it locked. Looked around to find a key... and found the switch upstairs, and blew the top of the tower off!

When I finally did have the mission and went back, the console was already locked, and I still didn't know where this key was. I placed a core and started removing blocks to see if I could find some kind of secret room or something... but I found nothing. Tried the console again... but then it told me I can't interact with NPCs in player structures or something. So I destroyed my core, then the console didn't react at all when I accessed it.

I got it so stuck, I just force-finished the mission. At least we have that as a backup!

The very first time I did Akua I did the same thing. I didn't know it was part of a story mission so I looted it, too. When you first approach it I think there is a dialogue pop up telling you something like it is important and maybe you should come back to it later or something like that, but it's real easy to miss and the message is far from clear.

I think the message is something about detecting a signal and making a waypoint to it before "getting bogged down here", at which point it makes a marker at the village. But yeah, it definitely does not make it clear that, if you wish to do the story, then you should skip this one for the time being.

Maybe the story related ones they should lock the doors to until you have the mission for it?

I fixed it by doing a new restart. But most players will not want to do that.

Unable to get report as well. Going to force it complete from the quest line.
Tried several days, went on completed the root beer quest, came back to Akua still unable to complete quest.

The short answer is yes.
Pantaxid and promethium are usually found under water, don’t forget to grab some plant protein while you are swimming around.

Cobalt is found near the poles but only in rock form.

I have found gold in the water, but it is exceptionally rare

Magneto rock seems to only be found as ingots in containers.

Good luck and bring a towel!

I also have this problem. And I pulled the switch. Do we need to find a code key somewhere? Or will it just bug out the other quests if I go searching other POIs?

As far as I could tell there's no key to be had, and the fire stick thing that it mentions doesn't seem to be implemented. I tried resetting all POIs on Akua but that didn't help, looked like the only option was to force-complete that quest step.

(I think the chevron icon map marker indicates a quest location, safe to loot anything else though ttbomk.)

I only really play the RE scenario, but there the multitool charge uses promethium fuel cells instead of prometheum pellets. So I can make biofuel, put it in my HV, then take out prometheum fuel cells to use to make multitool charges.

Good idea. I started doing that and found you can also turn biofuel into fuel cells to make it smaller and lighter.

I would just quit the game. It's impossible to get a straight answer on anything. The wiki isn't updated and will just waste your time waste your time waste your time. You'll constantly be sent on a wild goose chase until you're just fed up. I've gotten several difference answers on how to get Colbolt in Akua and not one of them is correct. Despite being fairly open world, if you then try to play the game or other users will basically snatch the controller from you. You'll hit these walls very early in the game and the community is sadistic. People will just screw with you instead of giving any kind of help.

You search for where is promethium and people tell you all kinds of convoluted answers like you have to fly around for hours and hours finding the right trader or its somewhere, in space really far away. How hard is it to just say it's a blue shard like crystal you can mine in the water often found along with pentaxid and make sure your hands are empty to be able to swim?

With Colbolt first they say there's an asteroid. All I see are ice asteroids. Then they say its in the deep sea. It's not. They they say its around the poles. You go there and find it but then it says you can't mine near the poles. This game is still unplayable.

You very quickly end up needing to cheat.
