warp fuel usage?

how is warp fuel usage determined? is it based upon distance warped or a flat amount for each jump?

Well I'm on my 2nd CV now thinking the second one would have two warp drive fuel tanks. Unfortunately it doesn't. Even more time and grinding wasted. The problem I'm facing is the planets are all more than 25AU away and the warp drive fuel tank is only 25 slots. Therefore, I cannot warp to any of the planets except one. How are you supposed to warp anywhere if it takes one per AU and the AU distance is more than there are available slots?

Preacher you have to chain jump to get to your destination (there will be link lines on the map). As of just now all CVs are only allowed one warp tank.
A workaround so you don't need to leave your navigation seat is to have lots of Pentax in your personal inventory.
After you jump, press P there you can access and open the warp drive tank from the menu.
Simply drag the Pentax from your inventory over to the tank. Target next system and jump again.
