Taking over Alien (Epselon) bases
so my boys and I have a server and we have managed to take over a couple of Epselon bases - first time we just tuneled to it - that was fun. other times we use T2 Sniper and Rocket launcher to deal with canons and sentries and T2 shotguns inside. what we noticed. once we destroyed the CORE we could not place our own and take over. is this by default or a bug? also without the core the spawnes still spawn - that is OK but seems strange.

also do Aliens come back and rebuild or is that it? once we take over the base it seems to never get re-established or visited by troop ships

you can put in your own core. Take out the yellow/green/red single plates (those are teleporters) but yes.. you can take over them. i've redecotrated/structured 2 of them so far.

You can in single player so maybe this is a server setting issue??

it must be a server setting issue because we can't. I am the server owner. anyone know the settings?

Oh, so the spawners need to be removed even if the core was destroyed?

on that note, how to the spawners still function if the core/generators are removed?

They are driven from the other end - where the aliens are coming from.

Did it say why you couldn't place it?

I guess the question is do I playce a CORE or a starter block that contains a core?

you place a core - doesn't matter where specifically, as long as it is within the confines of the struckture (attached to any block that's part of the structure)

That's a good hint - but for people who that question matters:

Cores can be placed anywhere on an existing structure which does not have another core on it.

Base starter blocks can be placed anywhere where there is room on the ground (or in orbit) that is not touching another structure.

Vehicle starter blocks can be placed anywhere where there is room.

Um... mostly - I have not tried enough stuff to know if there are other restrictions that I have not noticed yet. Also, they keep releasing new versions of the game (which is mostly a good thing), so some things should be expected to change. (Hopefully mostly in good ways, but there will also be some mistakes that need to be fixed and sometimes they have to assume that you are playing on a good machine.)

ah, so think of them less like spawners and more like targets for them to jump to. makes sense, sorry, i need a dose of logic some times. thanks!
