Replace all textures and colors?
Painting and texturing sucks for larger ships. Is there a console command to replace the textures and colors of every block on a CV?

Well, it takes a tiny percentage of the time it took to build the ship... so <_<

I wouldn't say tiny, considering that you have to not only paint, but also texture the whole thing. Add in on top of that the fact that painting and texturing doesn't even utilize the symmetry plane, and you have hours of uneccesary work, that could likely be done in seconds with a command.

Consider coloring and texturing as you construct what you're doing... that way you get a better idea on what it is you want to do to finalize it once you add things like ammo/storage/fridge/etc.

While that idea may work, it slows down the process tremendously. I usually place a few key components and then build around those with the outer shell, before finalizing the inner details of a ship. My last step, and a very tedious one at that, is assigning the entire outside of the ship one color and one texture. After that, I work out the additional color/texture details manually.
The problem is that coloring the entire outside of the ship requires unecessary tedium. A simple command could help to eliminate this chore, and allow me to get to the fun part of the details faster. As it stands now, spending hours upon hours just to make the outside of the ship one uniform color and texture is just insane.
I know this isn't an incredibly difficult addition, considering that a command already exists to replace one block type with another. Since it doesn't appear to exist, then I might as well make a request for it. Creative mode in this game is seriously lacking at the moment, and needs a bit of love.
talk about 1st world problems ffs!
It doesn't take hours at all. I'm making a very very very large CV and it takes a few minutes.

I am using various different textures for mine, sometimes having to turn round blocks to get thet textures themselves to line up. I just think you don't have any patience. You say you just coat it all one texture first? Well, that is even quicker! I'm going to unsubscribe from this discussion.

I honestly don't get how you're defending the lack of a feature that would only benefit everyone. Or how your "massive ships" only take minutes the color. After reviewing your workshop submissions, it seems that you haven't actually tried to make anything large at all. Of course small ships don't take long to color. I'm talking about the ships that are composed of over 5000 blocks. One of which I'm in the processing of attempting to color at the moment.
Heck, at this point, I'd just love it if they'd just combine the color and texture tools into one. Why they haven't done that yet, I have no clue.

STURM-KATTEN [SC-KL] just wants to disagree with you for the sake of it Wheatley, he has no argument. It would be a nice addition to the game.

Personally I can't believe they haven't added something like this. It puts me off building large scale ships. I like adding detail texture, especially inside but I would really like if there was a way to add a base texture and colour. Like priming the ship before you start with the detail. Also it would be nice if symmetry mode worked for painting and texturing.

There are a lot of basic things they have overlooked. like deleting multiple blocks at a time for instance. They seem to focus on bug fixing and new blocks rather than stuff like this. Not a bad thing really but i wish they would add it. That and a galaxy or at least multiple systems.

All that said, lets be honest, they're doing a damn good job with this game.

It would be a nice feature. I play with friends on a private server and an easy coloring job is one way that those who don't like building can help.

I would love to see a feature like this implemented by the devs since clearly it takes a considerable amount of time to paint and texture large ships as the OP has correctly stated.

Something like the "replaceblocks" command.
