Multiplayer - play with other people
build Hover vessels, small ships and explore/loot the planet
build capital vessels -> explore other planets, and other star systems
grow crops for food production
trade with other factions for items you can not make
build bases or space stations.
go to a more hostile planet and fight with the xirax or other factions.
raid POIs for loot.
eventually try Reforged Eden. That expands the options greatly but does make it harder.
There are many more...
I did the starter mission and well for a new player it only introduces you to the planets and their differences. Along with how to work with natives as well as trading. Trading will be a big help later on.
You can fix up one of the bases and then build you an HV/SV to explore and gather resources. Once you have enough weapons to do some of the POI's (not all are hostile)some planets are extra hostile. Do this! You will get much needed resources and equipment.
Mainly just explore, learn and survive!
Also, don't "Marry" a game play through. It is easy to start another play through and use what you have learned and do it better. Some people play to long on the first game and build an empire, but are afraid to loose it, so do not take chances, or limit their self. Explore and take chances.
Which map did you look at? Planetary? Star system? Galaxy? There isn't just one map, which makes me wonder if you really understand how big it is. :)
My big goal when I started was to reach space. I wanted to explore beyond the planet I was on. Maybe you could do that too. Depends on what you like to do.
I also notice that the supply bunker eats fuel a bit too fast. Might have been better to build our own bases I think. Reforged Eden? That a Mod or something? I like the idea of more content to explore with.
If you haven't :
Save, save again.
Try to explore the asteroid area in Crown sector.
Remember, life before death, journey before destination,
and save before explore.
Use modern tech,
and use the mighty ancient spell, cough, mighty ancient tech : S&L
What about the Multiplayer part of this game, how does that work here? Since the map is big, there had to be many people playing on one server right?
SV and CV can fly and can fly to space.
MS Gundam need lot of resource, I will start from SV.
Or you can start from HV for practicing.
The easier way : use the factory(F2 key) to produce them.
The harder way : build them(BA, HV, SV, CV) block by block.
My English is not good, I can't explain the details very well, sorry.
I don't play multiplayer; I don't know how many people a single server can support. I don't think this is intended to be like an MMO though, with large numbers of players playing simultaneously. Server populations are probably small or modestly sized.
As far as fuel consumption, you can turn off devices you aren't using, to reduce power usage and conserve fuel.
You are given a 'Motorbike Kit', with this you can build a motorbike to move around pretty quickly, but clearly that's not the best vehicle in the game... Whatever you do afterwards you have a lot of options to construct vehicles or bases to efficiently explore a planet or moon and eventually move to space and explore even more. But when you start, you are there with a pistol, some little food and ammo and need to survive and level up first, you cannot clap your hands to have some vehicle or base :)
To get you quickly started in single player, here some tips...
- Get familiar with the Map (M key), the system and galaxy map (F1 > planet icon). On the system map, switch the 'Info Panel' ON, info will appear on the right side; get familiar with the map functionality because it will tell you about ressources in the system, in orbits and on planets. The map is your best info to see what geographic dangers you can encounter, high/low temperatures, radiation etc. The complete info is only available once you have visited a body or orbit.
Everything you discover will be added in a 'Regisitry' (F1 > Registry) so you can find it later and set a waypoint. You can also set a quick waypoint in the planet map (M > RMB on the map).
- Build a simple HV with enough Container capacity;
Do this if you don't intend to explore the orbit soon, or better make a simple SV.
Pick up plants, harvest rocks for metals, discover POIs to gain XP points and to level up, this will unlock new technology you can use. The more you do in the game the more you level up.
- Build a simple SV without warp capability;
Such a vehicle is most efficient to explore a planet and the orbit in the system. Best option to spot and harvest important ressources quickly. Upgrade your SV as you go on playing, Be sure to place a Detector on your ship, this will allow you to scan for ressources and POIs.
- You can build a base on the moon but you don't have to.
You can also transform a discovered POI into a provisory or permanent base; making a base is important if you play with Volume=ON in the difficulty settings, or if you want to setup a Farm, otherwise you can well do without any base.
- You can follow the initial basic questlines and later, follow a storyline, but you don't have to.
As said, this game doesn't force you in a way to play, do what you want, explore, visit other systems by building a CV (SVs cannot move to other sun systems). You can also build space stations in orbit.
- Best immediate help ressource while playing is the PDA, the Empyriopedia. (F1 > ...)
You can play with an activated Tutorial when starting the game, but you can as well switch it off (you get a message after your escape pod has landed), and swtich it on if really you need it, but generally the Empyriopedia section will contain all the basics.
- Factions and missions
You are not alone, there are factions in the game and depending what you do you have a certain Reputation with them. You can do missions for them to gain reputation (F1 > Solo Missions).
Check your reputation status with F1 > Factions, on the right side of that page you will see basic info explaining what will change your reputation.
