Day/Night Cycle.
Any way to slow this down?

A day lasts only a few minutes in this game. By the time you've got everything ready to go hunting as morning comes, it's already getting dark again. If I could halve the speed. it would be nice.

Wouldn't it then make more sense to ready everything before morning??? Sort of like packing the night before if you have an early enough plane flight.

That's fine if you only have to pick up a bag and go. If you've been building or working at your base, you probably emptied your inventory to make sure you have space for the things you need for that job. You have to empty that out and then pick up what you need for hunting instead.

So have specialised storage. Easy enough to empty stuff into, even easier to empty stuff out of.

Also help to move with the sun, so it'll set later.

just make a "quick drop off" container and stock it with all the non-perisables you will need.
drop your stuff in it to sort later, pick up your hunting/mining items and go.

Actually, the daylight lasts about 35 minutes on Akua, so idk what you're smoking, brosephina.

Execute `debugmenu` command in the console and then you can slow down the time scale in the debug menu after you press ESC. However you won't be able to set it exactly to half of the speed, as the standard is I think 5, and you can't set there fractions (so either 2 or 3).

The setting isn't persistent, so you'll need to set it again after you re-launch the game.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

I'm hoping that, at some point, they'll include it in the config file so we can set the game up to have the cycles slowed down on launch.

Not sure why, but the animals don't respawn very quickly. Coupled with food requirement being so high and such a small amount of meat from each animal, this often means travelling further and further out to go hunting each time. It's not so much the setup time, it's the time it takes to track down something to kill.

Build this bad-boy and go out at night. It'll protect/warn you. One of my new favorites vehicles.

This setting also doesn't work in multi-player mode. And in creative, it is quicker to just type "time 9000" in the console whenever you want to go back to sunrise.

Single player you can use one or the other, or the combination of both, of course.

I would very much like to see night time cut back to approximately 1/3 of the day time, or even 1/4, on most default planets. Eventually, I imagine we'll have the option to adjust total day length and the length of each night and day cycle, per planet - making planets have a variation of day length and light/dark cycles. Any option to help make the planets to feel unique from each other is a big plus in my book!

In the meantime, the only thing that I am aware of that multi-players can do is adjust night light intensity: http://empyrion.org/2016/09/28/how-to-adjust-night-light-intensity/

Planets are being enlarged and tilted and this will give you the ability to adjust length of day/night cycle to a very accurate degree.
Probably not in 4.0 your new big update but not far down the track now.
