I have no opinion about that.
But, by my opinion, from now on, you can and you need to find(?) challenge yourself.
Defeat Zirax Empire or win the Silence War, for example.
How hard would it be, really, to put in a really tough challenge and lock it behind a challenge. Like you can take on the tough planet once you reach orbit from each of the easy planets.
At the very least, the tough challenge should include several hostile factions that don't become docile when you attack the others. Bring back drones, in fact make the number of drone bases a player input--have a thousand if you want.
Make all the trees those crappy new trees that take forever to chop down. Make food rare. Make it both cold and low O2. Make it cloudy so solar is crap. Put in bad weather and lots of wandering monsters.
That's all I want for now.
Ignore this post if it exhaust your sanity because of my bad English.
Try to invade Zirax Base in Zirax territory.
Some Zirax Base(on Zirax’s planet) are harder than Abandoned Bunker. (a lot)
Maybe, just maybe, maybe you can start from Skillon. set difficulty to hard.
It’s not cold, it’s hot and no O2.
Resource will be still enough but maybe you don’t have enough time to gather resource.

From 150 to 148 before "landing".
Or maybe you can try snow moon when difficulty is hard.
I wander that if my commander will starve to death in that situation.

I don’t know. Maybe it will be cool, but I don’t know.
I mean, if base attack is hard when I have T4 SV, T4 HV, T4 BA, and T4 CV,
how can I protect my base when I have only T1 SV and T1 BA ?
Maybe, just maybe, maybe there should be different kind of drone base or other base attacking POI with different kind of base attacking, I don’t know.
So this is good advice. Locating and conquering each faction's homeworld is kind of the end game for experienced players.
I can see you mean well, nameless, but these scenarios are vastly too easy for the likes of BigDaddy. Or even for a scrub like me.
I kind of lost you in the remainder of your posts, hopefully it wasn't too important.
To me, the most interesting thing about the moons is they give you a very valid reason to build a base using wood.
There are more ore types to mine and use on more advanced technology. Everything is harder and takes longer without feeling grindy.
I think most people who play RE, never play vanilla again.
Trying this in RE would ramp up the hardness tremendously. I agree if you are bored try RE, it is well worth it.
For the moment I'm trying to setup a ground war festival between Polaris and Zyrax on Akua by placing POIs very near together and placing some ground troops to see if they engage each other and what commands you need to use in the faction.ecf game file. Whatever, I don't think this would add much fun for the player even if this runs as expected. Faction interaction is very poorly implemented in this game currently. It's about only you and the world...
I will try Reforged Eden, based on recommendations by Amrak and ZomBeGone. At the very least, I am sure that I'll appreciate the creativity and effort that went into it. Thank you guys.
Regarding japp_02's offer to make a starter planet: In order for that to benefit the most people, you'd probably want more information from more people. Maybe run a poll to find out what the bulk of longtime players want. Then make it an official mod "Harder Start j02v1" or some such. I'd for sure play it. Thanks for the offer, japp_02.
I've done this myself declare war on bof and other factions after i setup a base on their homeworld. yeah is a lot of drones on the homeworlds and the added danger of a planetary patrol vessel on a homeworld or some of the home world moons.
some of the pv's are easy others quite hard, especially with a bases fixed weapons. watching a pv attack a base is interesting as the pv uses different tactics than fighting a cv, sv. hv have a hard time reaching up to a pv...
The only time I play vanilla now is when a major update drops. ! to play any new missions and see changes and 2 well because RE usually needs updated too so have a week or 2 to kill waiting. It is true when you play RE it is hard to go back to vanilla.
I played Project Eden this way and just got into RE this last year.
I will say that I believe new players should gradually move to RE by playing Project Eden first. It has a lot to offer by enhancing the vanilla game but not kicking you in the teeth right off the bat. ;)
Reforged Eden is a combination of Project Eden and Reforged Galaxy for any who did not know.
