Key matrix

Hey all,

While exploring I came across an obelisk on the starter planet with a door was able to go inside and found teleporters to the other moons in the area... came back later on and the door was closed saying I needed a Key matrix... Anyone know where to get one? I am on a vanilla MP server

No activator - tested by starting new game, went directly to Font and got key. Now, I did pass the activator getting a visual, so maybe that did trigger it.

I lost the key matrix, is there anyway I can spawn another. I really don't want to start over. Can I load one from the item menu?

This feature was designed poorly. As a result, you MUST keep the Key Matrix and not discard it, and you MUST have it on your person at the time you want to access any of the Obelisks and their teleporters.

If you've made the mistake of discarding or losing the Key Matrix after obtaining it, you cannot convince the game to issue you another... yet another aspect of the poor design. The ONLY possible way you can now obtain a replacement is to "cheat" using a console command, which is ONLY available to you if you're a server admin or playing solo. This is the command you need:

give item 1305 9965

You're welcome. You'd be screwed otherwise.

BTW, in my personal scenario, which I'm preparing to publish publicly, I've modded the Obelisk POIs to include exterior elevators that drop you off right at the room with the teleporters. Even though I've never lost the Key Matrix, I found navigating the interior of the towers and their oversized "stairways" to be a PITA, and so I bypassed the entire irritation.

Had the same happen to me.. going to see if the "cheat" helps cuz i dont want to start over at this point.

You might not have to start over, you just need a simple SV that can get off the moon. The other 3 moons are in range. I lost my Key Matrix in a fight, but was close enough to getting an SV that it was Ok. The hard part might be staying warm on the flight, take hot drinks with you. And good luck... 8-)
