On the planet that begins with S and has a moon. Sycom....Sureon...something like that.

Mine asteroids. Buy some from vendors. Scrap things like turrets ad large engines. Don't bother with anything elaborate on the starter planets. Go the asteroid belt, teleport to Omicron and build from there. Just make the crapiest SV you can on the starter planet to get to the asteroid field. In the Omicron system there should be some planets or orbiting asteroids that have these items.

Thanks for the info, but in Omicron I wasn't able to find Erestrum/Zasconium asteroids and it looks like there aren't any more planets/moons other than Arua. I'll try again.
Try other star systems. You don't strictly need erestrum or zascosium to build a CV.

I went mining crazy on a Polaris Alloy asteroid near Arua, now they're hostile, not sure how this will turn out but I can build whatever I want now. I have no idea what's gonna happen maybe I'll be a Pirate or maybe I'll get blown outta the solar system.
Alternatively, buy a couple laser rifles from a trade station and toss them in the factory or deconstructor. They're made with a zascosium/erestrum alloy,

I did not know that if I did I might not of started a war with the Polaris.

Then it is a very good thing the trade station over Omicron is owned by the Free Colonists.

You got that right, this is gonna be a crazy play through, hopefully I can make friends with the Polaris if I beat on their enemies.

Ulroth had it - Symos planet in starting system. It is loaded with erestrum and zascosium. I believed that there were 27 erestrum and 43 zascosium deposits - many of them medium. It also has 10 or so small/very small gold deposits. There are unmanned defenses (16k hp artillery though) near most if not all deposits, but it is a very rocky canyon planet and you can use a small sv to fly through the canyons to get very close to all of them without taking fire. Fun planet but fire rain and highly radioactive so be prepared.

That's VERY interesting, it's good to know that SMALL SV is needed, small meaning narrow right? BIG thanks for the info.

small means cheap. Not to scrap all the ♥♥♥♥ from the starter planet and go directly to mining asteroids that give you much more ore to build a solid combat SV or CV that brings death from above.

I was using a small CV to hide/navigate in the canyons, but I couldn't get anywhere near as close to the deposits or the POIs that would have been possible with an SV. Also, some deposits were at the bottom of the canyons. Probably, any SV would do. The Omni Laser by ArtemisRogue would be perfect but requires erestrum and zacosium, plus a little modifying to work in vanilla.

Some of us are a little slower at attacking the big ole galaxy. In fact, in my last save, I didn't even leave the starting planet until after reaching lvl 25. On this one, I left the starting moon before getting an SV, using teleporters from the obelisk after getting the key matrix. But, yes, asteroid mining is definitely much better than searching for planet deposits.

I'm old - I fiddle around a lot... But, that's why I like this game - not locked into any particular method of progressing, as well as all the changes that have occurred over the years.
