with those specs, you can both play and host a dedi server on the same machine. Though 32gb ram would be better for doing both, you can do both on 16Gb ram very smoothly.
Shop around. Use Amazon, Tiger Direct, and Newegg for your best deals. Sometimes you can find the stuff on sale. I use those, and local Computer Shops. If you get a local computer shop (NEVER places like Best Buy or Walmart) to assemble the computer, you may get your Win10 or Win7 OS for free (They get OS DvDs for new builds only). Even though Win10 is recommended, I have never had an issue with my Win7 systems.
I recommend the 8700k over the 8700 if you can afford it.
If you get that one, keep in mind it's a product that requires a Signature on delivery because of the value and because there is a battery on the montherboard. Also, research Liquid Cooling so you know all about it since that model has it.
There is a battery on the motherboard for the internal clock and ROM so you don't lose the time or your settings if there's a power failure.
Liquid Cool is indeed better than just a heatsink & fan.
That one is worth buying, unless you can find a better deal at Tiger Direct or Newegg. Empyrion will play smoothly on a quad core with 16gb ram and a GPU made in the last few years with at least 4gb vram.
That machine will play most games smoothly
i too dont really care for the new dell alienware systems either (they have cheap motherboards and low power supplies) so the ibuy model with an msi mb looks a bit better especially with the 1070ti instead of the base 1070 model on the Alienware - atleast you know what mb the ibuy has :)
as an example my 1070 (base model) system (w/ i7-7700k and 16gb ram) does great at any game ive tried
i can run this game at all ultra settings @1080p no problem but use high-ish settings anyway
i have also run a full server with 3 other people not including myself on it with no issue
Keep the Radiator & fans clean and free of dust. Just get canned air, or a small battery/plug in air blower. Not a USB powered blower. once a week cleaning the dust out if the computer is in your bedroom, or once a month if in another area that's free of carpets.
GPU Nvidia GTX 750Ti
Memory 120GB SSD + 1TB Hard Drive
CPU Intel i5 4460
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3
PSU Chieftec 650W
Corsair 100R Silent mid tower with 2 intake+ 1 outtake fans
...
Something small I might forget.
Self built, had a couple of friends to help out. Thus the price excludes assembly and OS, which would bump the price by 200€.
