To create a larger strorage u need to use the ContainerController and Container Extender
Place the Controller like any cargo box. Place the exterder next to it and it will increase the volume cap to a certain level
Thanks

I'm not "joining" the containers or I am placing the wrong block down. Why do I instead get the wifi active thing with the yellow selection happen? I am obviously doing this incorrectly, but it's about 5 minutes of trying non logical combinations that is not helping explain what the original design intent with containers was to me.
In pic #1 I have a controller and 3 extensions around it. Is that not how it is supposed to work?
I know this is all beta and so on, but I got no extra space - people keep saying "whole lot more", exactly how much more and how many can I add? From my results it looks like just I only get double volume, and am unable to join the other 2 container-extensions to the controller. Please provide screenshot of what I am supposed to have done. I'm not getting the UI result or feedback interaction I was hoping for, so that's a bit embarrassing for someone.
I'm a bit worried, seeing using the word "controller", and "extension" in a one-to-many or other way around relationship. But, I am assuming by common usage convention 1 controller many extensions? How many are allowed?
I'm a little confused as to why the controller (which is not working anyway for me) does not work with regular containers, it's unclear what purpose or use case that creates, so it feels unnecessary to create distinctions when none is clear and really fragments the problem-space for someone trying to discover the workings. I see a button that says "join to container on right", how does it know what is to the right, it only seems to let me join to a fuel, ore or oxygen container, so that's confusing me at the moment, that I cannot select the nearby extension? I want from the list. Or does just touching do it?

The slots arnt unlimited. The Volume cap can be increased
Why the controller doesnt work with a normal container since it has nothing to do with it. The Controller IS a own container. It has nothing to do with the normal containers. U either use the normal container wich ar limited to a certain volume cap. Or u use a controller with an extender and u can increase the volume cap.
The slots stay the same. No way u can increase them its hard coded and wont change. U just get 4 extra rows with a controller when the other slots are full. Just 4 rows nothing more. Its dynamic grid, it wont show UNLESS the other slots are full
Read the FAQ guids on our forum. Its all explained there
Container controller and extension give you more weight in essence.
1. I did not know the details about this volume logistics feature and the yaml setting before I started this thread. The game start menu really should have exposed the option, because as far I understand you have to set it before you start a game? is that correct?
2. This video actually explains it far better than anyone has managed to explain it above https://youtu.be/2x_mGKHuf-8?t=1322
Big thanks to Dycart.
hold my hand like a little child
i watched the video by dycart too but he doesnt cover my question. just shows extenders attached to a "container controller"
Controller gives more weight, but also gives more slots in accordance with the weight limits as you add more extenders.
