No, you do not need a ventilator. Only power and a 100% sealed.
Not on an oxygen planet.
They will die instantly if there is any exposure to the outside for even an instant.
If both rooms are connected and sealed and it's only a dividing wall, knocking it out is ok.
on planets with high radiation.. or 50+ temperature or -10 all day and night.. sure that makes sense they would die..
but on a temperate planet? normal wheat and all? it grows in the wild out there too.
I should also note that mountainous terrain is bad for outdoor farms - Higher Elevations have colder tempetures.
Also just fyi - this is also the reason I can power down my CV and not lose the grow plots (albeit only for a few seconds)
Also I don't remember the exact stats - but crops iin EGS are MUCH more sensitive to temp than their real-world counterparts - if you can't live there without a shelter or a suit (at all - not light) chances are your crops die instantly.
A workaround for farms that usually helps is to put another airtight compartment around the grow area which delays the environment check that kills your plants long enough until the structure is fully rendered.
