Good places to make a space station?
aside from what you all mention, i will suggest 1, Space station near sun + Solar Panels (in Survival, worried mostly about resource usage)

Still waiting for the new information.

Those are a must for me:
1. Galaxy sector = point of interest
2. High luminosity star (800K or higher)
3. Closest to the star sector (less then 25AU)
4. Empty sector/asteroid field/exploration site/uch vessel (no zirax stations or patrolls)
5. All available resources nearby (not more than 30 LY away)

another good spot is directly above a planets pole, ships and drones never seem to patrol near the center of the pole if directly above it.

(2) Star type unfortunately has no impact on strength of solar power, only distance from the star itself. You'll get equal power from a class M as you would from a class A at the same distance from the star.

So far, bookmarking the star on the map and warping to it still seems to work. You can't get much more sunlight for a base than that.

I recently tried building compound planetary bases again. Previous solar power changes allowed me to basically forgo generators entirely. I had separate BAs for living spaces, manufacturing, and farming. I put solar powered turret emplacements around to encompass both my buildings a large flat area I could use as a CV airfield. So it's not necessary to build a space base anymore if you don't really want to.

Plus you always know where it is cause you just head north.

One can also put a station almost right next to a trading station. I do that all the time so I'm just in range of the station services.

Partially true. I'm playing RE and I get far less poweroutput near G class than near O class. That may be becouse of the range of the closes sector to the star.

Good, but still a pretty long run if warp from another sector.

Before water update I felt no need in planetary base as space station was much more convinient. Much more power output, better defence, minor to no drone attacs, easyer ship building and so on. Planets are good for looting, chilling and siteseeing.

The OP did not mention Reforged Eden, so that is not applicable.

That's correct. Beside, Patch 1.7 attack base drones are lot harder than patch 1.6 now. Rocket Drones fired rockets quicker than before. I got killed because I didn't realize new AI changed. I have to zig zag more than just strafing only or keep jump jet to avoid explosive. They are tough now.

EDIT: I have yet to test solar distance yet, but it is true that closer to sun gives more power than further away from sun. On my starting temperature planet, with only 4 or 5 solar panels (normal), I gained like over 6K or more during day. I was wondering if they buff or what, but I forgot to check how far from sun.

EDIT 2: Temperature starting planet is 2AU away from sun. That's awfully close.
