My Base is Falling Apart
This is more of a Gripe than anything else... but if there is something more to it... that would be nice.

So I finished my base in Creative Mode... then Spawned it into my Survival Game, and now the slightest damage... or repair... or addition, and stuff starts falling off. While in creative mode if I went passed the physics of the game, stuff would fall off... that's was fine... it let me know what I could and could not do; but apparently Creative Mode is more Forgiving that Regular Mode, because now it won't stay up. I'm speaking of Solar Panels (which are rather important to my base design)... and Ledges which help me get position on attacking ships. And I don't want to know what else is going to fall off :(.

While I can over come this with a Re-Design, I don't have the freedom to build as I do in Creative Mode; flying... walking through walls... etc.; which mean now my base is starting to look Mammy-Made :(. Which really sucks, because now I'm considering another re-start of the game... and this game was playing soooo well :(.

In any case... I'll see if I can live with this; or if someone is going to post; "Just Hit 'x' Key, and it will all be okay :)".... Wishful Thinking!!! :lunar2019shockedpig:

You built an unrealistic fantasy structure and then complain when it fails? Either learn how Structural Integrity works or disable it at the start of every game with the console command si off.

Structural integrity is definitely a pain at times. The N key menu you can bring up the structural integrity menu, green good red bad.
if can add pillars, flying buttresses, or "pipeworks" which are actually just pillars or buttresses spreading the weight load around.
you can use GM or GM inv with Itemmenu in the debug console. if want to do creative work in survival and don't have the resources.

The N key opens the interactive Panel that debugs in-game has many features including Structural Integrity. If you have Red Blocks on that mode you are at risk of engineering failure.

Try using something to hold the blocks, like a plant or a NPC, lol.

You can also "cheat" the structural integrity in survival using half or thin blocks to look like something is floating.

Ahhh... I thought the Structural Integrity was showing me Damage.... Okay, this is Good to know. Especially since I plan to start a new game...and 'Yes'... build completely within Survival Mode. (Well... Not completely... I'm currently working on a Mobile Base to help me Collect and Store the Materials I'll need for Building this base (grin)). And I was using Pillars to fix my problems; but since I had to, Haphazardly Plop them down where needed... my base began to look like something from FallOut 4 :).
Great Tip/Info... Thanx!!!

Before I start a new game I'm going to have to load my last, and run the Structural Integrity.... I can only imagine how much Red I'm going to find - LOL :).

NPC.... LOL!!!

I may give that a go... the Plant that is :).... I hate it when my Core is on the ground ;(. I actually like to build on Stilts; keeping my base a few blocks (5 to 10) above ground; which is why I prefer to build in Creative Mode; but Unfortunately that has a major draw back - (doh!) :).

Thanx for the tips all.

A small cheat, in the console type 'si off' I think you need to do this every time you log on though.

If don't want your core touching the ground make a deep foundation with cement it is very very cheap. imo the thicker the foundation the better, you can factory spawn it over more types of uneven land by sinking the foundation into the ground when spawning. might have to clear some dirt out if incidentally went to deep but better than structural integrity issues.

That is something to keep in mind, but I'd like to avoid the impossible... if possible :).

Oh my gosh... I'm such an Idiot (and No... You can't quote me). I've been trying (wanting) to build my base in Creative, for several reasons, including having the Core off the ground. But I don't need to build the whole base in creative mode... Just the Foundation!!!

I know that's not exactly what you were suggesting, but your statement made me realize my real mistake. So Thanx Mate :). And to be honest, I think you're idea of a deep foundation, is actually better than my Stilts, because while Stilts also allows you to build pretty much anywhere... it does prevent proper parking for HVs. So... Thanx Again :).

Okay... I gotta say, now I'm actually looking forward to a new game - LOL :).

ROFL... Just checked out my game.... My base is more Red than Green (mostly at the top); but even towards the middle there's a lot of Yellow. I guess I can give up my dreams as a Architect - LOL. :)

If you try to hide the core deep underground the Zirax will remote hack it.

You can try an easy core destruction, put the core in the botton of the basement suported by only one plant (5 HP). If they hack just shoot the plant with any weapon and the hacked core will be destroyed, then put a new core.

Do not use the si command in the console, you would have to do it every time you start the game and: forget it only once and your construction will collapse and then say good bye to it unless you have the most recent blueprint to respawn it, and no, killing the game in the task manager doesn't help.

Instead build with si in mind and as said use the N menu to show you dangers: the more red the more danger, but usually you have to do stupid things to make a construction collapse, so don't do stupid things, sounds lame but whatelse should I say please...

I was not aware that the Zirax (or anyone) would attack my Core... let alone hack it - LOL :).

The reason I don't like it on the ground is because it seems like an important piece of Technology... so I actually try to use it as part of my Central Command. Surrounding it with pieces of Computer Looking equipment... NPCs... and the Like. I'm almost done with my foundation; which includes the Core in my Command Center; if someone can teach me how people post pictures in these threads I'd love to show it off. :)

Now that I understand what SI is... and how to use it, I'm actually building 'Just' the Foundation, and 'Mostly' keeping SI on... just in case. But once the foundation is completed, I'll start my game... Spawn in the Foundation... and Build while Survival Mode so as not to make the same mistake twice (well... actually several times... but you get the point (grin)).

You need steam overlay enabled and steam active to take a screenshot. the hot key for screenshot is usually f12 by default. after you have taken your screenshots to go empyrion in your library and scroll down to where it says manage your screenshots.

choose which ones you want to upload and make public. then choose to view that screenshot online. when that opens up choose share and it generates a link specific to that image. test in chrome see if it works.

And if have more than one screenshot paste links in notepad or something, till got all your links. yeah steam made that part bit cumbersome...

and paste the links into your steam posts it will show the thumbnail and description.

Thanx Jalore...Awesome; Crossed Fingers it works :).

The control center for my Base Foundation; actually on the second floor; I'm considering making it a bit larger (maybe), because only 2 items fit inside due to the glass taking the inside blocks; but not sure yet :).
