Structural integrity is definitely a pain at times. The N key menu you can bring up the structural integrity menu, green good red bad.
if can add pillars, flying buttresses, or "pipeworks" which are actually just pillars or buttresses spreading the weight load around.
you can use GM or GM inv with Itemmenu in the debug console. if want to do creative work in survival and don't have the resources.
You can also "cheat" the structural integrity in survival using half or thin blocks to look like something is floating.
Great Tip/Info... Thanx!!!
Before I start a new game I'm going to have to load my last, and run the Structural Integrity.... I can only imagine how much Red I'm going to find - LOL :).
NPC.... LOL!!!
I may give that a go... the Plant that is :).... I hate it when my Core is on the ground ;(. I actually like to build on Stilts; keeping my base a few blocks (5 to 10) above ground; which is why I prefer to build in Creative Mode; but Unfortunately that has a major draw back - (doh!) :).
Thanx for the tips all.
If don't want your core touching the ground make a deep foundation with cement it is very very cheap. imo the thicker the foundation the better, you can factory spawn it over more types of uneven land by sinking the foundation into the ground when spawning. might have to clear some dirt out if incidentally went to deep but better than structural integrity issues.
Oh my gosh... I'm such an Idiot (and No... You can't quote me). I've been trying (wanting) to build my base in Creative, for several reasons, including having the Core off the ground. But I don't need to build the whole base in creative mode... Just the Foundation!!!
I know that's not exactly what you were suggesting, but your statement made me realize my real mistake. So Thanx Mate :). And to be honest, I think you're idea of a deep foundation, is actually better than my Stilts, because while Stilts also allows you to build pretty much anywhere... it does prevent proper parking for HVs. So... Thanx Again :).
Okay... I gotta say, now I'm actually looking forward to a new game - LOL :).
You can try an easy core destruction, put the core in the botton of the basement suported by only one plant (5 HP). If they hack just shoot the plant with any weapon and the hacked core will be destroyed, then put a new core.
Instead build with si in mind and as said use the N menu to show you dangers: the more red the more danger, but usually you have to do stupid things to make a construction collapse, so don't do stupid things, sounds lame but whatelse should I say please...
It's a base i named "Miss Atlas".
The whole base is suported by one dancing girl with 5HP.

The reason I don't like it on the ground is because it seems like an important piece of Technology... so I actually try to use it as part of my Central Command. Surrounding it with pieces of Computer Looking equipment... NPCs... and the Like. I'm almost done with my foundation; which includes the Core in my Command Center; if someone can teach me how people post pictures in these threads I'd love to show it off. :)
Now that I understand what SI is... and how to use it, I'm actually building 'Just' the Foundation, and 'Mostly' keeping SI on... just in case. But once the foundation is completed, I'll start my game... Spawn in the Foundation... and Build while Survival Mode so as not to make the same mistake twice (well... actually several times... but you get the point (grin)).
"Yes! Yes it does!!!" ROFLMBO.... Okay, that's just too Funny!!!
You need steam overlay enabled and steam active to take a screenshot. the hot key for screenshot is usually f12 by default. after you have taken your screenshots to go empyrion in your library and scroll down to where it says manage your screenshots.
choose which ones you want to upload and make public. then choose to view that screenshot online. when that opens up choose share and it generates a link specific to that image. test in chrome see if it works.
And if have more than one screenshot paste links in notepad or something, till got all your links. yeah steam made that part bit cumbersome...
and paste the links into your steam posts it will show the thumbnail and description.

The control center for my Base Foundation; actually on the second floor; I'm considering making it a bit larger (maybe), because only 2 items fit inside due to the glass taking the inside blocks; but not sure yet :).
