But then you built a new ship, which should have taken some time as you didn't say you immediately spawned in a replacement, which in turn should have turned the planet further out from whatever it was and opening the range at where you enter that playfield from whatever it was. Instead the results are again immediate. And then this phenomenon repeats again exactly at an even later date.
The only thing I could suggest is to either try again but this time fly elsewhere on your planet to exit atmo, or try troubleshooting the issue by entering godmode real quick and popping your character up there to see what is going on to diagnose the issue. No sense wasting industrial effort in troubleshooting.
To further diagnose, use ` key to open console and type gm to enter godmode and jetpack up into orbit to see what is going on. If the coast is clear call up the wife in your ship and observe. Then enter the craft, exit godmode with gm again and continue your session. If something is there, you can duck back down, travel a bit and pop back up to see if it makes a difference in location. It might feel a bit cheaty, but in this case you are trying to troubleshoot a game that has known bugs and glitches and can't otherwise reasonably observe symptoms to clarify the exact issue involved.
We used the factory to build the new ships, but they weren't ready to spawn, so still took 10 minutes between the first and second (we had parts to feed the factory), and 30 minutes between the second and third (started from raw materials). Definitely should have been enough time for the planet to move.
I just tried godmode to troubleshoot, I don't have permissions set right on the server apparently, so I'll get that figured out, thanks for the suggestion.
If it is just drones, and they do chew up unarmored ships, what do I do since I can't get armor yet?
Final question, half the ships I've downloaded from the workshop appear to be significantly out of date. Any suggestions for a good two person SV that is fairly current? We're playing vanilla, no Reforged Galaxy at this point.
Instead of naming you a good ship, here some basic hints:
The starter orbit should not be too difficult compared to other systems, but next time you go to space do this:
Immediately when comming out of the atmosphere (you are in orbit) stop the ship and SCAN. A quick look in the map (M) will tell you who is near you and what direction you should take to avoid it. Fly away from any red target. Your ship should at least be equiped with some rapid firing gun like Gatling gun with which you can attack zyrax drones, but with anything else you need to fly away at max speed, hit W until you reach max speed then press 'I' which will shut down the thrusters and make you glide in space with max speed, at that speed no target should be able to intercept you. Hit ALT key and pan around your ship to have a quick overlook about what's near you. With everything more than 5km away from you consider yourself safe. Be aware that after some seconds targets will disappear from the map, you need to scan again to make them visible. Also on the map all ships are red dots which doesn't necessarily mean they are enemies, but in the 3D view everything which is red IS an enemy to you.
Fly away from any enemy then head towards the moon. Repeat all this maneuver if you encounter other targets on your way. Once on the moon: Be very careful and also start immediately to scan and fly away from any powerful target.
In general, stay more than 2km away from any enemy and he should not be able to hit you with any weapon.
With an unshielded ship you can afford to attack some drones, but that's it, and it's dangerous if they are numerous, also even if drones seem overly easy, a lucky hit from them can reach your cockpit and kill you, so keep moving... Everything else than drones means death for you, you'd need a ship with armored steel, armored cockpit, shields and decent weapons to defend. If you are more advanced, what you can do even with an unshielded ship is a fly-by at max speed to identify a ship like a destroyer or carrier, if they start shooting your speed will protect you (assumed you don't head directly towards them.)
A safe speed in space is over 100m/s, less than that you are in danger to be catched-up, this is directly function to how you build your ship.
Greetings to you and your wife...
If it's not that, if you have two closed cockpits (i don't remember their name in english sorry) and if you have an oxygen tank with O² in it, then you should try to quit the planet from another place (why not the poles of the planet ?) ^^
Are you sure you can not upgrade your armor? If you have a T2 multitool you can upgrade any blocks. Salvage Capital ship wreckages, the story one is great for getting titanium and some abandoned POI's have combat blocks the will give you sathium plates. Salvage the blocks not taking the block whole because it would be for a base. Now that you have the plates, titanium/sathium, use your wireless connection to the storage box they are in, connect, then use the upgrade function on your multitool. When you point it at the block it will tell you what you need to upgrade, but if you are connected to the storage box it should let you upgrade until you run out of resources.
There are no orbiting POI's close enough to shoot you when you leave atmosphere. The game has spaced them far enough away so that you can assess your surroundings. But drones spawn in wherever and I believe you just in the wrong spot. I have had this happen but ran away before my whole SV was destroyed. Just try to hit atmo thus loosing them.
(I suggest that you can choose two T2 SV with turrets)
I think that it will be a little boring to sit on passenger seat.
And you can easily got enough resources to build two SV(T2 or T1 SV)
By the way, you can use the large constructor to craft the blocks of SV and use these blocks(include of generator, fuel tank, thrusters, cockpit...) to replace ingots for factory.
Which will decrease the production time a lot.
Add something,
I find some T1 SV with turret.
Or you can try to build T1 SV yourselves, T1 SV don’t have many parts.
So that it’s won’t be very complicated.
I think it's this. Even time of day can matter if patrolling ship. Fly a couple of miles from base on the surface and then go to orbit and see if same thing happens. If so, then it's the ship. Personally I would never use a CV that was not all alien blocks.
(1)Maybe you can fly 2 very small vessels.
So that you have chance to see what happened to each other.
(2)In vanilla single player game , there are several POI on starter planet which can be recycled as resource.
If Co-op is the same as single player game, maybe you can start the solo mission,
(Don't forget your SV with gatling gun or turret)
chapter one will bring you to the UCH Heidelberg. there is a large constructor there and you can recycle its thrusters to produce a very basic CV without warp.
POI Submerged tank has 3 alien container.
And there should be some other crashed CV on starter planet.
(3)You can buy some resource from Polaris Space(Orbital?) Trading Station, but not very much.
However, it is in the space, so that you still need a solution to leave the planet alive.
If it is really space drone, you just need agility, radar(to find them) and turret with bullets.
Gatling guns work too, but turret is better.
Sorry, I forgot another choice, a decent SV with Shield, (If it is really space drone)
A decent T3 SV with Shield and Turrets can handle these space drone easily.
Sorry, I don’t have such a blueprint.
Oh, talking about Sathium plate, you can get some Sathium plate from solo mission Chapter 2, about 2000 iron plate and 2000 Sathium plate.
After a big explosion, pick up those wreckage falling down, pick up quickly, because these wreckage will disappear very quickly.
If you turn on the mass setting, you can build a very very basic CV after Chapter one and use the wireless connection.
By the way, did you use any scenario ?
I mean, maybe there is a scenario which add some feature.
is your helmet on? are you wearing armour? (bottom left the cylinder icon does it have a value greater than 0 ?)
does your ship have Oxygen (bottom right 2nd from bottom, cycliner icon)
what exactly happens when you die?
is there gun fire? explosions?
what happens when you chose to spawn within 150m of dying - do you instantly get shot again?
They did say "blown up" if that helps.
