Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Building an underground base from a blueprint question.
I built one in creative to blueprint for survival. Placed it in creative then decided to see how long it would take to mine out so I could use it in survival. It takes forever even in creative, there is no way I'd keep my sanity mining that much in survival just to use a base I'd probably abandon once I make a giant CV mobile base to explore the stars.

Only thing I can think of offhand is to fill the air gaps in the base with wooden or composite blocks and break those once the base is finished and placed in survival.

Anyone have any easier ideas? I keep thinking there might be a console command or something since POIs often have underground areas that are not full of dirt.

You have to dig it out by hand (or use a hv or sv)

And the blocks trick will not work. The dirt will still be there even when you remove the blocks. I wish there was because I like making underground bases too.

I did the same thing, but it was a small starter bunker base (I've since expanded it a lot). Wasn't so bad to dig out. I would think once you have a mining drill, digging is fast and should be much less of a problem. Are you trying to dig out a large structure with a survival tool? That would be annoying. Can you get a drill?

Here is what I did. The biggest problem with spawning in a base underground, is you have to dig it out, but not ONLY that, but digging out around everything placed in the base. I created a base called the Pentagon which includes a bunker and other rooms under the ground. I then made a template 'base' made of wood blocks the same size as the underground area. You place this "bunker template" first and mine out the inside area of the wood walls and floor. Then remove the template base and spawn in the actual base you want. This is only done so you don't have to fight getting the terrain out from between everything like generators, fuel tanks, and all the other items in the base. YES, you still have to dig it out, but so much easier with nothing in the way. I have dug the Pentagon out without using the template first, and it took way longer. So my advice is to make a template of the base and spawn it first. GL

Not a big deal for me. I don't mind digging out a base for 30 minutes. I only use underground base on stater planets so they are not that big or complicated to clear out.

Thanks for the answers. I do have the drill and enough resources to build a miner. But honestly, I think I'll skip making it and just do a quick above ground one. The passage ways and rooms went pretty quickly in testing, but I did make two decently sized hangar bays which were taking awhile to dig out. I'd rather just spend my time taking out Zirax and gathering resources for making a mobile CV base and not digging a base I'll probably abandon in favor of hopping from star system to star system.
