How do I use teleporters?
I'm very sure this has been answered, but I could not find a tutorial on the how the teleporters are used now. I can only find ones for I'm guessing the old way. Does anyone have a link to a newer tutorial?

From what I think I know... You need to be friendly to the faction before you can use thier teleporters, and they need to be linked....which I think is supposedly done by using your teleporter to travel there first.... But not sure 'bout that.

As far as using it in your base.....watch out.... Many have exploded their gens as soon as they place a teleporter. They draw a huge amount of power and are "on" when placed, immediately using or over taxing your power supply. Use a motion sensor to switch it off and on...once you have it set up.

There isn't really that much to know. Put down a teleporter on your base or CV, and put a motion sensor over it so that it's only on when you are standing on it, because they use large amounts of power, and you don't want to leave them on. As Zugly said above, you will need friendly or better relations to teleport to another factions teleporter, and you also need to have discovered the area where a faction's teleporter is located. Make sure you have sufficient power generation to power it, plus whatever else your base/CV may require. CV teleporters require less power, but are limited to only teleporting shorter distances, while base teleporters can go up to 30LY, but require more power.

Ahhh good info. Didn't know the distance was different from BA to CV. That explains some things...

The short version:
Base teleporter range: 30LY
Capital Vessel teleporter: current sector only
Sensors are key to saving power since it doesn't need to be on all the time. It also is a CPU hog, as much as a T2 repair bay i think

Can you teleport around in your own base? If so how do you set that up? I have 2 teleporters in my base and I'm trying to travel between. I just don't know how to link them.

Note: Thank you all for your info btw :)

Why would you want a base that big?

Why *NOT* have a base that big? It's something to do, and it keeps them off the street.

I don't think you can. You can have more than one teleporter at a base, but the base that you are at doesn't show up on the list of destinations.

In 1.4 they have changed it: Now, I think you cannot build a teleporter anymore in Survival, only use it in POIs and only if you are friendly with the faction (that's what the Empyriopedia says). Check your tech tree, if it's there you can still use it, if not, they have taken it out.
If still you can build a teleporter somehow (maybe after collecting one), there are some finesses you must consider because it will use a LOT of energy and you must make so to switch it off just after you use it, here is a link describing the complex procedure (I haven't done this, so I cannot say if it still works):

Some stock CVs will have a teleporter inside, like the Albatross or the UCH Severance. I don't know how they work in Survival, they will work fine in the Tutorial game mode, but again: you can use them to go somewhere (max 30 LY), but if you want to return then you must be friendly with the faction otherwise you will get stranded !!

Maybe my game is defunct but this is the first line in the Empyropedia under Teleporters: "You can build teleporters for Base and Capital Vessels."

And they are in the tech tree. Whew.

Also in Survival, are you sure?

[EDIT]
My version got updated again with new teleporter descriptions, so YES, you can use teleporters, but the friendly faction requirement still applies, sorry for my error and confusion.

You can't use a teleporter to teleport to the same structure.

Reminds me of the TV commercial of the overweight kid on his PC calling Grandma in the other room complaining about needing another soda, as she is seen using her walker to get one for him in the background.

I find that getting friendly with Polaris is a real advantage, especially for using teleporters and their price reductions. To get friendly I have chased predators with HV mini turrets for some time until I reach 18.000 in rep. Problem is that to really have teleporter advantage I need also one in my base , and that's rather complicated without shields to switch them off. Still it's good that you can teleport from one trade station to the next and back.

Complicated? Shield?
Just put a sensor on the ceiling or behind and reduce the trigger area to minimum except the front (usually) so that it covers the teleporter only.
