"There is a not docked ship in your landing bay."
I keep getting this error message when trying to take off with my CV, and I don't know why.

My two HVs and my SV all seem to be docked, as far as I can tell. But, to be sure, I moved them completely outside of the CV, and tried to take off with it empty, but the error message is still occurring, preventing me from taking off.

UPDATE: It seems to have been an issue of me removing the docking pads from one of my HVs, and not replacing them in any way.

- I logged back in, and the CV still wouldn't move at first with the bay empty.

- I then made sure to move my SV and both HVs well away from the CV, and then the CV could take off.

- Added back the vehicles one at a time, and tested for take off each time, confirming it was the HV that I had replaced parts on (Bulldog miner), that was causing the issue.

- I noticed this time that it was not making the docking noise when I landed it inside the CV.

- Added docking pads to the Bulldog, and it docked successfully to the CV, and I was able to take off with the CV and all vehicles inside.

Had the same happen once where i ended up taking my two docked ships out into orbit to check that i could then move the CV without the message coming up. Also had no luck and had to reload a saved game from a few hours before.

Did you lay a starter block of some kind, HV or SV and then delete it ?

And you tried to move ship with nothing at all docked and nothing parked within 50m of said ship ?
Is Cv parked on flat pad or terrain or is it in space ?

Did you try re-logging ?

You could also jump into creative and spawn that ship and do some tests in there and if it all works perfectly you could have a good old fashion bug, which to fix might require going into godmode, and spawning a new Cv, same as what you have thats stuck, transfer all stuff to new one, and go from there, just leave old ship where its stuck or pull apart for more parts long run, but if you cant find any way to move it and its SP, then that is an option.

I didn't lay a starter block. I did upgrade one of my HVs, replacing some of the carbon blocks on a stock vehicle with combat steel, but I didn't touch the core. I think I added a T2 Extender to it.

I might try moving my HVs and SV further away. They are probably closer than 50m, but I'm not entirely sure, as I'm American, so I don't have an intuitive sense of metric.

I have the CV on a flat pad base that I built.

I haven't tried logging in again since I posted the original.

I'm not entirely sure how to jump into creative or go into god mode and spawn items. Is there a page somewhere that has the commands listed for the prompt?

I had this error due to building an underpowered HV and locking it under my CV. I couldn't pull away so I cut the docking pad and still couldn't move away. I then received the error when I tried moving the CV. Next step was reenter HV power on/ then off and it fell loose.
problem gone. /Reforged Eden.

Hmm... I did remove the landing gear on the one HV I was working on. I didn't replace them with anything, because I didn't think they were necessary. Maybe I need to add landing gear to it.

if it has the wrong landing gear... try remove the landing gear with the multitool, and then put it back on. if that fixes it, save to update your blueprint.

Ive had this happen when I have salvaged an SV or HV and you happen to leave one tiny little block somewhere. The little box shaped or triangle shaped corner pieces are a nightmare to find at times.

Had it happen once in space and when I did try to move the little piece glitched into my ship. Had to go into GM to go inside a block to zap it out.

I've had this happen too. There was a tiny block left behind when I salvaged an SV in the docking bay. Was able to see it with show structural integrity option.

What would make landing gear 'wrong'?

This happens more often when docking SV / HV close together.
Guessing the game has issues maintaining the exact position thing are docked at.

Undocking everything then restart the game, or if on a server log out wait about 3 min.
Usually fixed after that.

I've noticed it doesn't matter if the actual vessel is dock equipped in any way. If the vessel concerned is anything that can be dock equipped it will give the error if close enough.
I recently ran into this problem with a POI seemingly, but not sure, designed around the SV frame in space in project eden, one of the data caches. I'd gotten too close to it and suddenly got the docked ship error. Nothing I did, redocking my ships etc fixed it. Fortunately relogging seemed to move my CV just enough to get out of the situation.

I also only had this once while sv was too close (and on terrain = not docked) to cv.

Just had this happen to a massive carrier. I redocked every ship and docked nearby ships to make sure. Restart didn't fix it and checking registry there is no other unknown nearby ships. Gonna try undocking and moving out all ships now.

Edit: last solution worked.

Reading the posts above gives me the clue on my situation in space with the same issue. I had run up to an unidentified signal probe and think i go too close. It was probably a part of the probe within the CV that was showing as an un-docked ship so no matter what i did with my own ships it wasn't going to change anything. Its a good advertisement for making regular back up's.

Oh, there is a bug when the developers removed a landing gear style from the game, Any SV that had that particular landing gear effectively is unable to "dock". It's a well known bug amongst the old hands here, easiest workaround. Simply multi-tool the landing gear off the SV, and put it back on again with a similar looking one. dont forget to update the blueprint again.

I recently took down a derelict ship out in space and when I tried flying through it it automatically registered as I had a ship close to my ship so I can guess it's a phantom ship that I can't do anything with and there's no pieces left of that ship but it's preventing me from moving from where I am and I can't use a backup because I'm on somebody else's server.
