SV and CV top speeds
I don't recall ever having a CV go above 100m/s and an SV go above 130m/s in space.
Adding more and more thrusters just inceases acceleration to that speed cap.
At those speeds it is not possible to outrun enemy ships. How do I change the top speed values, can't find them in any .ecf file.

I am pretty sure those top speeds are hard coded by the Devs because of render problems increasing them can cause.

The top speeds of vessels is hard-coded and cannot be changed in the config.ecf file.

my CV has a top speed of ~65 in space (even the statistics says its 100.)
what im missing? 4 more thrusters have nothing changed.

I'm pretty sure i heard mass affects max speed

How much cargo are you carrying? If the ship is overloaded, the extra weight will affect the top speed and acceleration.

have enough thrust left. even switching on 4 more thrusters does not increase my mx speed.

This could be due to CPU overload - check for that in the P menu of the craft. If you are in SP & don't want to deal with that then just disable it in world options. I know you can do this on a new world, not sure about changing the setting in an existing one. If CPU is overloaded then e nearly everything gets slower, from Pitch/Yaw/Roll to thruster top speed & acceleration. :steamfacepalm:

I wasn't aware that this was already discussed. Perhaps you could let us know where this thread is. I generally don't go back more than 25 pages to find something.

It was a reply to a long-dead thread where last response was from Feb 2021.

Usually, it's accidental, someone does a search finds some info, but then forgets they are on an old thread and responds. It's not really all that big of a deal. Everyone's done it at one point or another.

See my below quote where I addressed this very thing in the same thread.

Actually, you didn't address this issue. You talked about cargo weight slowing a vessel down, Comoloid was talking about CPU values being exceeded causing reduced efficiency of thrusters, causing slower speeds.

Think whatever you want, then, but stop harassing me. You were never a part of this thread.
I wasn't harassing you.

And I guess I'm part of this thread now aren't I?

I have joined this thread and am now a part of it as well.

I understand the speed cap.

I just hate it. Even knowing why.

I would like to hear from OP if they ever resolved their issue.

I once forgot I tied my big thrusters to a signal logic, so when I cut signals off, those thrusters tied to the signals didn't turn on and I wasn't at max speed.

Took me a few derps to figure it out "signal logic" was keeping me from full speed.

I've heard this too. Hoping they can get that fixed soon. Other games of similar scale work fine, they can fix it. If/when they do, I'll come back to play again. Till then I am over it.
