It's not like I think the devs have abandoned the game I just think they don't have the skills to make it shine the way it could.
I'll second that. And it's not just "Emyrion" unfortunately. Once devs have our money, they need make no further efforts from that point on, hate to say this, but they don't give a flying fk. Piddlefoot (I know not if you're one of the devs as well as board mod), I will be happy for you to prove me wrong.
No other sector of commerce, industry or business treats it's customers like utter diahorrea quite as does the games industry. The lawsuits we could all bring, if we had the means, and a legal system that gave a ♥♥♥♥♥.
No question i dont like some of their prioritys too.
But in general they at least try it.
No I'm sorry but I disagree, it is fair when considering the whole games industry, they treat us like patsies. BTW I am not singling out the Empyrion devs with this, however they too play their part in this whole sad situation if they are leaving bugs unfixed for years, whether or not they are capable of fixing them.
I sincerely hope they prove me wrong, and they are free to go "na na na naaaah naaah" at me if they do!
I remember when updates were often, much content added and many bugs fixed. Now it's slow to a crawl it seems to me. I mean, i only been playing since Pre-Alpha days in 2015. and the gains are so slow lately.
if you are too slow the competition swallows you up, in a little while nobody will play empiryon
I'll third that. We are two months into 2021, and there has been no actual content. No, the 1.4 update does not count as that is a glorified wet dream for modders. Piddlefoot is also not a dev he is a mod. So, Eleon where is the content we were promised?
I've quoted "From the Depths" before, and I'll do so again, FtD is similar in many ways to Empyrion, and that is - eight years after first release - still getting regular updates, bug fixes, new content etc. Not all of it has been good (eg, the "centralised resources debacle") and more updates mean more new bugs, but they do at least attempt to fix them on the go too. And they INTERACT with the players on their boards. Not the stony silence we get here, that just says to me that they think "I do wish those horrible people who make work for us would go away with their petty complaints"!
Oh, I still like empryion but I am fed up with the lack of actual content. I am still waiting on the moving in ships update....
However, I did suggest that they make the 'crew' blocks count towards extra CPU.
Firstly I agree with the OP about the AI, Ive been pushing for AI to have a proper intelligence for about 5 years now.
The devs are still working, so what a bargain for under 30 bucks........
The devs are still working on the game, we started work in closed testing on 1.4 on the 27th of December, and to present day we have had 26 updates on 1.4 in closed testing, there are a lot of things you simply dont see, but just presuming people dont give a hoot is plain incorrect and insulting to all of those that give up their free time to help, because none of us get paid.
Eleon have not treated anyone poorly, every person has the choice to buy or not to buy, free choice, then on top of that they have a refund system and even a review system of which Eleon has no say over, all Eleon have done, literally is put an awesome game up on Steam for sale at a very low price, that is literally all they have done, they have not done ''anything to anyone''.
Sometimes, updates take longer than expected to get out to public, nature of the game we are in.
Updates are more complex now with so much in the game, you cant expect great wads of content like the early days, just one new line of code can cause a mountain of bugs.
Nature of game code.
But it sure would be nice to the AI start doing some end game chores, like the OP suggested.
Could not agree more.
Howdy, piddlefoot! It goes without saying that I am not belittling anyone who works on the game. I still play it so I must like something about it. Nor did I say Eleon treated anyone poorly. I am also not sure where you heard that. However, reading the patch notes for 1.4 not much of that stuff in 1.4 is actual content - most of the stuff seems to be geared towards modders not your average player. The AI, combat, movement, and food systems all need work, and I mean a lot of work. I also understand this takes time, but we haven't had anything so far- so I hope you can see how that is a possible source of frustration for me personally.
I think Piddlefoot is picking up on
and
which was aimed at the gaming industry at large...... though I admit I was also claiming the devs here put their 0.001% into the whole problem. Spoken from frustration as Blackout said. Bitter experiences with Slitherine/Matrix (C:MANO and Panzercorps), Dovetail (FS-X), Elite Dangerous and Star Ruler 2 and their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ attitude to customers have ruined my faith in the whole caboodle!
If the Empyrion team are not being paid though well that's different. But they are entitled to some profit! Hence the game having a price tag - so where does that all go? So don't give up now Eleon!
PS/ The offer to go "na na na naaah naaah" at me is still open!
