Cant get any SV to go underwater
My hanger doors are underwater (a few blocks worth of water)

Before 4.0, i could just drop down like any other fly space
At 4.0, water pushed me back up, but cutting power allowed me to sink to my doors (and then get in)
Some patch recently now EVERY SV is super float. I can cut power at 1k and get crazy fall speeds and still cant get more than 1 block through water (thus cant get to hanger doors).

Dismissing all the unhelpful "dont build there" comments i smell coming, anyone else:
1) experience the same thing or is anyone able to drop through water normally?
2) know if this can be edited in game files?

They changed it so you can't put SV into water and are probably planning on putting in a water vessel.

''Tweaks:
- Added buoyant uplift force in water and de-activated thrusters when they touch water (i.e., you cannot fly anymore under water as if water was not present). We will soon add special vessels that will have ability to go under water ''

Thanks, i missed that completely (seems poorly worded. Its not that you cant fly anymore underwater, you cant even fall through water :duranceleft::duranceright: ).

Many thanks. Curious to see what happens now when i exit hanger with existing ships.
Would need a sink key(Shift+C) or a new submarine device meant for naval battles, which would be fantastic :D

That is what the buoyant uplift force means (the forced floating) and the de-activated is for the can't fly.

Guess it sucks for your base. You'd probably need them to make a landing pad elevator that extends up and down to hold the SV like it is attaching to a CV to reliably pull your ships in and out. And I guess the possbility of keeping water out while underwater. Which they'ed probably need anyway for an underwater vessel.

I was specifically focusing on "i.e. you cannot fly anymore underwater" as inaccurate given that you cant even fall underwater, but I follow ya.

Not sure I like this uplift force (already made adjustments to hanger, so good there) because it means all water is a safe zone from enviroment fall damage on PvP fields now. can only smack land for damage now, water too kids-gloved!

You cut or run out of power at 1-2k (high water level Osctune or something) and fall, you take damage when you smack that ground, but now you can pretty much bullet into the water like a PvE blanket. Also not looking forward to seeing abandoned/unpowered SVs on the surface (i like my trash under the water!).

Still, excited for subs and hope to see some balance later!

I guess this means you can make floating CV bases.

Preperation for boats.
Rules for floatation etc.

I expect once they have them sorted they will adress the SV in water issues, because really an SV should sink. Its not a boat !

I am all for boats in theory - might be a problem on some planets if all the bodies of water are small. Maybe they plan on some tweaks to the planet procedures to ensure large bodies of water.

This "SV's don't sink" feature caught me by surprise the other day when I was trying to elude some drones after taking a particularly nasty hit from an alien POI and I was effectively disarmed. You can imagine my panic when the ship did not sink and I continued to get pummeled by incoming fire. Fun times!

The idea of having naval vehicles is pretty cool, but I feel adding a new type of vehicle shouldn't be needed. Instead, just add propellers and ballasts (using Oxygen tanks) to the existing selection of HV/SV/CV parts, along with a system that stops internal spaces from being flooded if it recognizes the area is sealed from the water.

Need a jetski...with a thruster....and a hover engine for portage. :steamhappy:

There is a work around...ugly but it works.
1. Plop your SV in front of your hanger door on the surface.
2. Build a stack of blocks on top of your SV, you'll notice it sinks bit by bit as you do.
3. When it's at the depth you want add a flare to the top of the stack and delete all the blocks below the flare.
4. If the flare is high enough it won't interfere with your hanger door.
5. You'll need to add a BUNCH of RCS to compensate for the phantom height of your SV.

But hey, it works.

Oh, and if you don't want anyone to know you're down there, turn the flare off. :)

Well..no. CVs sink just fine. It's only SVs that float like a cork.

Yea one of our popular bases is designed in such a way the hanger is vertical and in water so you land in the open door shut power off and you float to bottom which is preasurized (in therory) and your base is underwater. The float down feature is really nice looking; looks like the old Space 1999 vehicle elevator concept. Then you move your ship into its underground or underwater bay to park it. Anyway. its not that bad a change I just have to make another hanger to teh side of the HV hanger now instead and pretty much abandon the old launch tube. Anyway I get it the PvP griefers were asshurt because of people avoiding fire underwater so they made the change to apease the griefers that ruin everything people build for the Lulz. But the PvEers are scewed everytime when we just want to bunker up our base for resource gathering and then only PvP in space or whatever. Thats why we start on PvE worlds on stay on PvE servers. But still the griefers hack their base builds to overlap our build restrictions to grief people that like to stay on PvE worlds instead of just being constant cannon fodder. There are PVP exclusive servers for that. just as there are PvE servers for those that want to build. This change is more a nussance then anything but it does mean having to rebuild a lot of bases.
