How to find the location of where a Meteorite landed??
Just recently got the message "Watch Out. Meteorite in bound" several times in the last few days. I thought , COOL, maybe I can get some good stuff. Went outside to see if I could tell where it landed. NOPE. I saw nothing visible in the sky. Looked at the map for the planet NOPE Nothing there. Do I have to re-scan the whole planet again to find it?? That would NOT be fun. Is this just a teaser for something that does not really work? I did a search for Meteorite and the last date was 2017. Any Information would be appreciated.

When you first get the message, try to watch for it. It is not the easiest thing to find, but you can fly around searching and there is a hint when you are getting close. There will be a streak ( like a jet stream ) that appears for a short period of time leading right to it. If you still cannot find it, fly straight for a km or so and then go back again, the streak should appear again. Hope that helps

I went to the official forums and asked about this. I thought maybe it was a bug that the Detector was not showing the location of meteorites. Found out that the Detector does not show the location of meteorites and never did. Got a hint by one of the Moderators that this functionality might be added in the future. I also asked about the streaks that sometimes show up that can give you a hint as to where they are (as gtocloner described), but I was told that those streaks aren't even supposed to be there after the meteorite lands and that it is a bug. So it can help sometimes, but don't count on it.

Yep, unless you see the thing coming down you have to find them manually in the same way as ore deposits & POI's.

Perhaps eventually we'll have T2 detection mechanisms that include satellites to track incoming objects and mark their landfall?

That would be wonderful.

That would be ideal, definitely.

OK, So I have to roam around to find it like POIs after it lands. ARRGG What does it show up like on the map? Do they at least stay there, or do they despawn if I do not find them? After how long do they despawn? So far I am up to 5 of them having landed and it would be nice to find at least a couple of them. Are they worth the trouble to find them? I.E. Really good stuff?

they shouldn't despawn. They are worth your while. They will look like a huge ball showing its' ore color. If you get within 1.5km or so, the title should pop up and you can then run to it.
I am guessing you are doing SP as well.

Sounds like a good job for that decorative radar or a T2 detector as stated earlier.

That "decorative radar" needs to be the sensor that activates those fancy new retractable turrets....

The thing about it, is that, before Fog of War was added to the map -- you could just check the map for where it landed, essentially. But you always kept an eye out for it in the sky and it will give you the direction in which it landed, like others have mentioned.

They usually land in lakes, on mountains, or in forests from what I've seen.
