This sounds like either you do not have enough RAM or your PC is just not up to snuff. Have you looked at the store page recently to compare what you REQUIRE with what your PC has?

I'm on 2GB, and keen to move up, so I'm pretty sure this may be a huge contributor, you will have to turn down all the graphics settings. The game goes through periods where it causes my nvidia drivers to baulk. Hope that's the cause.
