CPU extenders issue?
So just found out that you do not need all of the extenders, ie if you need more than 1.5 million CPU you need T4 extenders. But you do not need the T2 and T3's, only the T4s.

I was playing around with my my CV and decided to move the CPU.

I had at first thought the the since the t3 and 4 extenders had multiple slots that each slot would give more CPU, but as you know it does not work that way, you have to fill all the teir slots to get the CPU upgrade.

When i started salvaging the T4 extenders i knowticed that ship was staying T4 with 10Mil CPU, and was operating fine with only one of the T4 extenders. I still needed to put all 4 on it get to T4 but was able to remove some of them after.

I am assuming this is a bug? And does anyone else think that each extender should give a boost so if you only need a little more CPU you could add 1 T3 for example to save mates on the 2nd extender that you really don't need?

I noticed this too... but I also noticed a little while later that this anomaly had corrected itself. So at best its a momentary thing.
CPU penalties are supposed to reapply only after short while to prevent battle damage to the extenders from instantly shutting you down. If they persistently aren't being applied with the T2 and 3 extenders removed, it's probably a bug. Not one causing any problems or at all worth correcting, but still technically a bug.

As far as I know, it doesn't update while you're looking at the interface, but it does update after you close it or shortly afterwards.

It might be worth pointing out for future reference that, while you don't *need* T2 and T3 to include a T4, since it only takes 1 T4 to be disabled (and you can't install redundant spares), having T2 and T3 extenders properly configured is a way of providing some graceful degradation in case of battle damage. Whether it's worth the materiel and weight and power, I couldn't say, but it's there as an option.

Good point Russak, while i was considering the cost relating to making the cheapest ship i could, i forgot that on a battleship cost is is generally second to redundency

The Offical Thanatos Tank BP has only T3 extenders.
Take it from this angle: Higher tier Externders have the previous tiers allready installed.
Now it's not a bug anymore.

Only they don't. If you don't install intermediate extenders in the proper number, your CPU will be reduced to T1 as soon as the grace period expires after you lose your first T4 extender.
