How do you survive the cold?
So for the heck of it, I tried a "Hard" Scenario that dumps you on a cold planet.
And I can't seem to beat the "cold" itself.
Every building I've found so far has still been "cold"

heat generator When you are outside, and in buildings, the building must be closed and powered by a generator

I dug tunnels and set up a heater which helped. I still starved to death in the end. Maybe I froze first? Can't remember. It was horrible.

Search for those big yellow plants, they give buds which you can turn into coffee from within your suit constructor. They are usually found near trees/woods and you'l need plenty trust me.

A portable heater is very important. Warm drinks too (look for plants that give buds). Remember that areas with trees and grass are a little warmer so try and stick to those areas as much as you can.

You can't. Heater won't be enough. If you want to survive hard mode on the ice planet starter, you basically need to have the lowest-possible level HV you can make that you can actually sit inside (IE has an interior) and you basically need to do EVERYTHING from inside that HV until you have the gear/levels to survive without it. An EVA boost will save you, but you're basically looking at RNG to see if you get the gold to craft it yourself or not.

In addition to the tips other people have given you: some food will also warm you, and of course you should watch the temperature, also, armor will help slightly (and let you equip boosts).

You should be able to survive the a few days by sticking to warm locations, crafting lots of hot beverages (and energy bars) and using your heater (and sleeping through the night). When you are landing, try for a spot with lots of trees that's close to your initial trajectory.

But, also, depending, you might find it easier to craft a level 1 hv than to salvage the damaged hoverbike (this depends on your map and your situation). If you get yourself an enclosed cockpit, fuel tank, generator and a bit of fuel (chop down some trees and make biofuel), you can warm up even before the thing can move (hopefully you're building that in a convenient location).

Once you have an hv and some light armor and adequate fuel (maybe from a dozen logs):

you can find boosts and sometimes you can find eva or insulation boosts.

if you find medium or heavy armor, they have better insulation than light armor.

if you can't find gold, you can trade for it (this takes some doing, and is well past the point where you've got an hv to keep you warm).

(Apparently the default map always has convenient gold -- I have never played the default map and don't even know how to find it.)

The portable air conditioner can keep you alive if you are playing SP. In MP you almost always drop in on an area that isn't the crash site and thus freeze or starve before you can get going. If the hard start gave one a light armor set then they would survive ok in the beginning for MP servers.

Lake + heater can keep you warm. Some lakes have hot springs that can really warm you up and give you some extra time in cooler areas.
