The Zirax are boring friends
So, I thought I'd try something different and made friends with the Zirax early on. It did break some of the missions but it was interesting being able to visit their bases and mine on their land without harassment, and the repeatable missions are an easy way to build up pentaxid stocks. After a while though it has gotten rather boring without enemies to fight. Should I turn on my friends and start killing them, or is there some gameplay I haven't found yet that I'd be missing out on?

Nah, all the mission they have are only to destroy talons or the Polaris tradin stations...but why the hell would you want to do that? Zirax got no traders, so traiding will never be a option again. NEVER. And while talons as polaris got turret and defended bases, zirax are and stay world conc. which ensalved or killed everybody. They are the enemies and the only one worth fighting. They got loot, heavy bases, are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (even more then polaris) and no trader, meaning they completly usless. Forget about them, its a relationsship you earn absolutly nothing. Go into the drone base to the core armed wiht weapons and medkits and destroy it, from the inside

And pentaxid, I mean, you fly to the moon, you search a pentaxid or, mine it and out of one stone (even a small ore vein), ou get around 50-70. If you clear the moon, you got around 500 if you lucky, otherwise around 350-400. Now in alpha 12 there are uncountable amounts of moon, so the pentaxid is worth exactly nothing

I have found traders in Zirax POIs before but maybe they're gone in 12. There does seem to be a lot less traders overall though from what I've found so far.

There is a traiding station on every starting planet, a trading station in space (always), at least starter planet, and other around. Use sensors during flight and look at the map after activating them everytime. It will show items on the map (sometimes not the HUD), but they vanish if not "found" by the player after like a half minute. In that case, just scan again one time

Yes, but there is one planet in my starting system, with one trade station on the surface and one in orbit. Well, there's the gas giant too, with moons, but no traders there. Or in the asteroid fields. I need to go to another solar system to find more traders.
Wish Granter 27 Thg06, 2020 @ 10:24am
there are often, when you fly in asteriod flieds, somewhere in the dark. Try to set a marker to 0/0 in asteriods fields and fly there, they are often there. But those field often have a playfield of up to 30x30 miles and if the trader spawns at 29x39 miles you never find them.

Show map order in the console helps to see in a pinch if there really is no trader

I'd rather just blast 'em and take their sandwiches.
Wish Granter 27 Thg06, 2020 @ 10:57am
yes, there never was a trade, but blasting them is way to easy. The zirax on heavy difficulty can at least defend itself
GlassDeviant 27 Thg06, 2020 @ 11:03am
Or you could go anti-pirate, in which you get to make friends with Talon, Polaris AND Xerox plus, I hear tell, all the others.

" it has gotten rather boring without enemies to fight."

if you look in the galaxy map with Faction areas turned on, you will see 1 pinkish faction area way off from the rest
its the Alien "Legacy" area, they make tough foes :P
there is no rep for them afaik

Do they? Certainly not on the starting planet.

without giving too much of a spoiler, they are from the Story Missions, the rumor is they will be end game content eventually
what you see in the starter area is just a few stragglers, there are far more dangerous and active alien structures and ships in that faction area :-)
not certain if they have any specific creatures yet but i have only managed to get in a couple ships/buildings after mostly destroying it, so far its just [alien] tagged assasins and such

I've seen an alien "spider" which is not very spider like but ugly as sin, something like a cross between one of those centaur-like "arachnids" from ice worlds and reavers. Or a cross between a wasp and praying mantis. They were along the border of the polar regions on my temperate starter planet. This and other reasons beg the question, "Do Eleon not know the difference between insects and spiders/arachnids?"

ok i am not talking about the 'name' of the creature but the faction - ie the purple [alien] tagged structures
they are actually a different but unlisted faction (with its own area shown in the galactic map)
the 'alien bug' is an insect not a spider, but i dont think eleon is that worried about naming, so there may be other critters using alien in the name i am not thinking of atm

I tried this as well in my current game ended up with honored status it makes mining easy plus no drone attacks so now I have plenty of everything rare ores, high end weapons and a very well protected base.plus a collection of various special well armed craft so far everything was easy. my next planned move is to do the Polaris beer quest and really upset the Zirax.

One useful element was to be able to visit their bases and find the locations of shields and guard weapons.

Basically, I wanted to see how things worked out if I started fighting them as well armed as they were I'm currently re-designing my CV with that in mind.

I will probably not befriend the Zirax in any future games but so far it has given the current game an interesting twist.
