Upgrading CPU
Someone help please, i have looked everywhere for information on this. I have a base, the CPU need to be upgraded to handle the demand. I have built an CPU extender but can't place that anywhere. How do i upgrade the CPU as this is starting to drive me crazy.

You should probably upgrade it in this order:
CPU Tier One > CPU Tier Two > CPU Tier Three> CPU Tier Four.

It doesn't matter where you place the upgrades and you can remove previous upgrades after upgrading your CPU to a higher tier. Example, if you go from tier 2 to tier 3, you can remove tier 2 modules and use them on other ships/bases.

Do you need 2 CPU Tier Two units and then 3 CPU Tier units etc? I thought that was how it worked with vehicles at least?

Right... I am such an idiot. Just realised I had made a small vessel CPU upgrade and tried placing it in my base. To all others, always ensure you build the right component for the right facility or you will end up like me.

Tier 1 > Core

Tier 2 > Core + 1 Tier 2 CPU

Tier 3 > Core + 2 Tier 3 CPU

Tier 4 > Core + 3 Tier 4 CPU

To upgrade in all cases you must have the core present, remove existing cpu, and have the shield off.

Yes you also need the right core and cpu for BA, CV, SV, and HV. I just wanted to put accurate information for anyone having similar problems.

Sure that you need 3 of the max tier and not 4 ?
(i need 4)

I have the same issue as Tiny78! I have the 1.8 experimental (the latest download from steam). I have the correct extension as it reads: "CPU Extender T2" and "Placeable: Base". So T2 is the correct one. I have also enabled the upgrade in the Tech Tree for "Base". Yet I get the "No upgrade exists or must be unlocked in the Tech Tree first" message. !!! Do I need to upgrade using Multi Tool T2 or the plain one should do? ANy ideas anyone? Is it a bug since it is Experimental or what? In the base statistics it also says that I have 2 Constructors - which causes the T1 Core to overload in the first place - while I have only one! Weird things happening here

You just place the upgrade down on your base someplace, like near the core. Does not really matter. Make sure your shield is turn off. The multi-tool is not involved

The multi constructor is probably the food processor. It is counted as a constructor.
They're separate blocks. You don't use the multitool's upgrade function. You just place the new ones and retrieve the old ones.

Thank you guys, I did it. But IMHO it's soooo stupid...!!!

Its not that bad when you get used to it.
No different from any other refit, really.
