Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Sorry dumb question on importance of sv's.
Hi friends! I have been making ships in creative a lot, but I do play survival sometimes but I have a question on what SV's are supposed to do.

I think HV's are better for taking on poi's cause of all the turrets, multi turret, and combat armor, clone chamber, and medic bay so I dont see the need to sv's for raiding poi's.

CV's are better for mining in space (well the only option unless you are hand drilling) so SV's are useless here.

I am trying to understand what I should be building SV's for. Right now I make SV's for my role play cause I can get more details but they don't seem to have much benefit in game. Maybe good for exploring planets?

Thank you much friends. I want to make some utility ships for my fleet but I just cant think of smart reasons to use SV's.

Me, I use them for fast exploration and for going to the moon since I have yet to build a CV, due to being a new player myself. My friend doesn't even use an SV even agrees that their only real purpose is for very quick exploration and moon hops.

Well you can't raid a space station in a HV! You're probably getting places faster with a SV than with a HV.

Much appreciated Sir Laffsalot! It kinda bums me because my favorite spaceships are the smaller ones you can walk around in. I love the millennium falcon, i have a millennium falcon lego set that is really sweet, but what I like about this game is that I can make things and BE INSIDE of them, where only my lego people get to see things through their eyes :(

How come the sv dont have mining lasers and stuff? I think it makes more sense that sv mine in space and the CV is used to carry SV and HV to different planets.

i'm teh otehr way arround. i use SV all the time and never use HVs. my usual build order is SV >BA>CV. sometimes i do base before SV if i don't have teh lvl for my prefab SV. V are nice cause you can attack easelly zirax POI from a turret dead angle (over them) thing not possible with HV.

X-SR71 but wouldn't it make more sense to raid a space station with a CV which have stronger lasers and more armor?

Now with CV shields.. maybe. But I didnt like putting my CV (which is often a poor man's CV) in the line of fire.

It's funny how they capped SVs so much that there are people that dont even consider them now. A long time back HV didnt outperform SV in nothing.

gillian.c I used to be the same. I always used SV's for raiding on poi's until I tried some of the good combat steel HV's people have made. I felt a lot safer and it was kinda more fun to me.

I got shot down once in my SV cause I had all my fuel tanks next to the core. The bad guys got a lucky shot and it 1 shot my ship. lol

ya, I dont like using elcheapo CV's either, but combat steel ones with good turrets are fun.

It saddens me that no one likes SV's anymore. SV's are my favorite thing to make. :steamsad:

well that's a placement error why put fuel tank close to teh generator or teh core? plus, combat steel is also availiable for SV.

Ya, I learend from that adventure lol.

COMBAT STEEL on SV? I got really excited but just checked and I dont see it. I see carbon, steel, hardened steel and the mass blocks but not combat steel.

In Survival you need a SV for reaching the next planet with Neodythingsy and Sat....what ever it's called, to build a CV.

Its actually kind of too easy to build a CV out of POI loot and salvage on the starter planet, though.

scouting ,light transport ,attacking weaker POIs ,good made SV can easily go against most t1 POI including drone bases (just watch out for those new antiaircraft turret structures ,homing missiles give huge damage to sv)
