Empyrion - Galactic Survival

What am I missing? Tutorial doesn't seem good... at all?
I pick "easy" starter planet.
1) Crash and loot pod
2) First mission is to go to a teleporter station nearby
3) Next mission is to run 1.5km to a crashed ship, ok...
4) Click on a few things at crashed ship, loot any boxes I can find
5) Next mission is to go BACK to teleporter station 1.5k walk/swim
6) Bunch of flying enemies with guns spawn

Literally no way to defend myself as I only have a "melee" laser beam thing...

Am I completely missing something here?

Apparently you skipped the part of the tutorial where it told you to craft weapons, which comes many steps before you see any drones. It is a work in progress though, and some parts are not that clear.

Also the HV, before doing the mission mine some ore

At no point in the mission did it tell me to craft anything. Unless it was in some flavor text? I did not get a task that had to be completed to progress. Obviously I progressed to point of spawning the drones without being instructed in how to craft anything, especially a weapon.

Sure, I can restart (because I can't leave the small building i'm hiding in).... But I'd say an easy world tutorial that spawns 2 flying drones like this before having a player build anything to defend themselves is pretty poor.

What is "HV" Hover Vehicle? Are you saying the the tutorial is supposed to have me craft a vehicle?

I seem to recall years ago the tutorial had you build a small motorcycle or something similar? Literally none of this happened at all!

Did you follow the initial tutorial? Doesn't sound like it.

The first mission is to fix the damaged hoverbike. That leads you to the crashed ship, which has a damaged SV and a mission to fix it, THEN go the teleport station to trigger the trap. If you have not yet fitted the SV with a gun, you just fly away until you can fight. You should have been in a vehicle long ago. Your early game priorities are - pick everything until you hit L3, then build a shotgun. Then get the HV running, to get to the SV. Then get it running. Use the Heidelberg as your base. Now you are ready for the mid-game. What you do from there is wide open.

When you land in the pod it gives you a choice.

You want to activate.

That was the initial / only tutorial I saw. I listed it in my original post what the game told me to do.

On the missions page you should find a Tutorial tab, with the Robinson protocol which takes you through all the basics of crafting, vessel repair and base building. Some starters don't include the tutorial, but I would think an Easy Start should.

Yes, it's the first mission. The first mission after the tutorial. Did you skip the tutorial, or did you start on ice Planet?

happened to me too this morning
MrGowdy Jun 17, 2020 @ 10:38am
Started on forest/easy planet. I didn't notice skipping anything.

Maybe the game allows you to skip/abort/cancel the tutorial without actually noticing? As in it pops up and if you click somewhere it instantly goes away? I did not see a pop-up that said "Would you like to do Tutorial?" and then hit "No" or anything along those lines.

I just restarted, didn't touch my keyboard/mouse, and this time I see a pop-up about activating and going through something more detailed.

Looks like it's possible to skip the tutorial even if you don't intend to?

Nope, you're missing nothing. Throwing drones at the player assuming that they've built weapons with nothing to prompt them to make weapons was a terrible idea. I had a shotgun and pistol by the time I did this the most recent time I played, and even that was awful because there's basically no cover at all. I ended up doing an emergency dig underground and had to fight them out of a network of foxholes. It was a really poorly-designed encounter, and not something I would throw at a new player unless you WANT them to fail and give up. They should at least give you an assault rifle before you go to fight them.

Agreed, there could be a rifle at the crashed vessel when you go to the console or there needs to be more before that mission starts. Or explaining to build a small constructor on the wreck with what else is needed to make a rifle and ammo.

The pelican wreck actually has a large constructor on it. If the tutorial used this as an opportunity to teach the player how to set up cores in a wreck and use the logistics system to link one of the stray containers to the constructor, they could also use the rifle as a chance to 'see how it works'. The user would then have the weapon ready for the upcoming challenge.

Overall, the pelican would be a perfect opportunity to go over some base stuff in the tutorial.
