Custom poi with underground sections
How can I spawn a custom poi in my scenario i'm making that only displaces terrain inside and not everything outside? I know some stock pois manage this.

A good example is Abandoned Mine on Akua. Only the surface shows, the rest is underground and automatically clears out the terrain around it.

you can sink your spawn item in the ground and you manually have to drill it out

Yeah I'm aware of that solution, but I don't like it, especially for an automated generated scenario. I think people won't appreciate having to dig out all the pois lol

I'm talking more specifically for planet generated POI's rather than placing via BP

Yea in this guide it discusses flatten terrain etc. this works for the "box" portion of my poi but if i want deco outside of this box, it does not work right because apparently empyrion currently cuts a big box around your whole poi and so it looks terrible if you do anything other than a box, that's why every stock poi has a big box foundation I guess. That really makes my life difficult though and not sure what I'll do to work around it...

You build the round POI you need, and the under ground section you build a square section around it so it fills out the square hole properly, it will cut the hole out based on the 2 longest horizontal lines, so make sure the foundation thats going under ground is not smaller than its footprint on the surface or you get gaps.

Yeah that's what I tried. The issue is that I actually only want terrain removed after a certain depth (so some surface terrain remains) in this box. That's not something empyrion will or can do (as far as I'm aware so far). It cuts a box shape from the surface all the way down to your last block. Thus, if you wanted some terrain covering most or even all the top of your poi, tough luck!

I tested this earlier by submerging it deep. It was deep allright, but it still was open to sky.

Nah theres no way to cut a hole and leave a part of the POI under terrain, its just not designed to do that at all.
