Can not be removed, only used in constructing something from it. Think the devs want us to not exploit this as a deconstructor - use the BA facility for that.

The factory system overall is a placeholder for ease of gameplay from early days. I hear they want to create in-game devices to replace the blueprint factory.

The cheesy thing is to have block blueprints for extracting resources from the factory. You place the blueprint, then remove and feed the blocks into a deconstructor.

i would argue that if you're willing to go through this much trouble to do an exploit, you have more than enough gumption to make your own whole damn ship and carry loot properly.

The only reason I even thought about it was I'm getting a bug where I turn the game off and back on again, and it's added resources that aren't there or saved to the blueprint. The ship was already in production, and it would not let me remove it and add something else. In my frustration, I opened the item menu and started putting in whatever it wanted more of because it was a bug. Until I realized I had accedily added 10K for rare resources, and I felt I cheated myself. Ah well.

Very old thread and I apologize for this, but I was about to ask the same thing the OP did, and I want to add that I think it's kinda stupid not to be able to unload resources from a factory. I have no access to other stuff listed so now I'm out all my silicone
The answer remains the same. The only way to get resources out of the factory is by building something. It's not designed to function as storage.
